William Ratcliffe to William Ratliff Hathan, York Co., VA, 1766
This Indenture made the second Day of July in the
Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and sixty-
six, and in the sixth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord
George the Third King of Great Britain Between William
Ratcliffe of the County of York of the one Part and William
Ratcliff Hathan of the County of James City COunty of
the other Part Witnesseth that the said William Ratcliffe
for divers good Causes and Considerations but more
especially for the Love and Afection he bears unto his
aforesaid Son as above named Hath given, granted, aliened
and Confirmed and by these Presents Doth Give, Grant,
Alien and Confirm unto the aforesaid William Ratcliffe
Hathan one Tract or parcel of Land situate lying and
being in the COunty of York aforesaid containing by
estimation fifty acres be the same more or less Bounded
on the East by Col. Landon Carter on the North by James
Macarty on the West by Joseph Hornsby and on the South by
Fleming Bates To have and to hold the aforesaid
Tract of Land to the aforesaid William Ratcliffe Hathan
his Heirs and Assigns forever With all Houses Buildings
Orchard Wood Water and all and singular the appurtenances
belonging or in any way appurtaining
thereunto In Witness whereof I have set my Hand and
affixed my Seal the Day and Year first above Written
