A HALLOWEEN STORY

My sons and I were just getting ready to go out and carve our pumpkin when all of a sudden, a spider came sliding down from the ceiling. Before we could react, she said, "Please let me help, I've always wanted to carve a pumpkin!". What could we do but say "yes, why of course! We would love to have a spider help us. What is your name?" She said, "My name is Susie." We said, "OK, Susie, let's get to work."
So once again, we headed to the door, only to hear someone going knock knock knock on it very loudly. When we opened the door, there stood a witch. We all jumped back in fright! She said, "Oh please do not be afraid!! I want to help carve the pumpkin too!! I flew all this way flying witch just to help! We just kind of stood there with our mouths open until she said, "My name is Tina, and let's get to work!" So we went on out the door, followed by Susie, and joined Tina on the porch. I spread out the newspaper as my two boys, Alan and Lee, sat down beside me. I placed the pumpkin on the newspaper. Then I asked, "OK crew, who has any ideas on how we are going to make our jackolantern look today?" Susie spider said, "I think it should have black eyes like me". Tina witch said, "Yes, black eyes, and a very wicked looking mouth, like me." Alan said, "But Tina, you have a very nice mouth, it is not wicked at all!" And Tina witch replied, "Yes, I know, but a witch can dream, can't she?" (cackle, cackle) I took a marker and began drawing big eyes and a very wicked mouth on the pumpkin while everyone watched. We all jumped when we heard a voice say, "I want to help too!". When we turned around, there stood a scarecrow. "Hi!", he said, "my name is Thomas. I would like to help carve the pumpkin, if that is OK with you?" No longer surprised by anyone showing up to help at this point, we said "Sure!" Thomas scarecrow said, "I think it should have a triangle shaped nose like me." We all agreed that would look very good. I drew the nose as everyone looked on and made comments, and then it was time to carve!! As I got up to go into the house to get a knife, Tina witch said, "I have a much faster and safer way to do this!" She lifted her arms, mumbled a few words, and magically the pumpkin was transformed into a jackolantern. It was perfect!! After thanking Tina, witch we all went inside and had a warm glass of cider to celebrate. We had so much fun, we decided that we would get together and do this every year.
