Special EventsOur community is coming together to support Brandon and his family in their time of need. Several events have been organized to benefit Brandon.
On Monday, September 13, 1999 Universal Weather and Aviation (a company near Hobby Airport in Houston) started a fundraiser that will run through October 8th or so. They have formed a team of co-workers who are collecting donations, plus they have made it possible for employees to make a payroll deduction contribution! See their flyer. On Sunday, August 22, 1999 Mane Stream Hair Designs in LaPorte held a "cut-a-thon" to benefit Brandon. Thank you to Mane Stream and all of the hair stylists who donated their time and skills! They also sold hot dogs and Dr. Peppers with all proceeds going to help Brandon. And Lil' Jack's of LaPorte had a great dragon moonwalk for the kids.
A benefit raffle and barbeque was held for Brandon on Saturday, August 14, 1999 at the Fairmont Park East swimming pool in LaPorte.
A BIG Thank You to Kathy Couts for putting this fundraiser together. She did an awesome job! And thank-yous to the many many friends and neighbors who pitched in, too! (And to the many local businesses who donated raffle prizes.) I believe between $5000 and $6000 was raised!
On Saturday, July 24, 1999 a local automotive shop held a "Lube-a-thon" and barbeque to benefit Brandon! Oil changes for $20 and donations accepted for the barbeque, with all of the money raised going to help Brandon! What an awesome and generous thing for them to do for Brandon. I really respect a business who goes all out to help a community member in need. I know I will gladly be a loyal customer. Thank you Automotive E.R. (10720 Spencer Hwy, LaPorte, TX.)
Our local boys baseball association held a pre-season tournament the weekend of 03/13/99 featuring a raffle with a large assortment of items and a bake sale. A local businessman donated, cooked and served 1000 lbs of crawfish. (Thanks Rick!) Over $3000 was raised to help Brandon!
Rizzuto Elementary, the elementary school where Brandon's brother attends, dedicated their Spring Walk-a-thon fundraiser on 03/26/99 to Brandon. Almost $7000 was raised for Brandon! Here's a picture from our local newspaper.
Dana Harmon's 2nd grade class at LaPorte Elementary (another local elementary school) produced a 4-hour video for Brandon to watch during his stem cell harvest! See article from our local newspaper.
A local bank has opened an account in Brandon's name where people can deposit money for Brandon.
