Mr 14:36 And He said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to You. Take away this cup from Me. Yet not what I will, but what You will .This verse has a special significance because it opens up our understanding about the mystery of the cause of human suffering. The word -I will- is the key.
Let us have a look at the book of Isaiah chapter 14 verses 12 to 14.
Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
We notice the words -I will- was recorded five times. The subsequent
verse gives us the clue about what had happened in the realm of God's creation;
the unavoidable judgment of God.
Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.A ship which voyages on the ocean will cruise safely and conveniently if it has only one captain to navigate the vessel. We might wonder what will happened if it has two captains on board. The crews are destined into chaos. Which instruction and order should be followed?
Have we noticed what is the middle letter of the words, pride and sin
?
As Lucifer said 'I will' five times in his heart, the small middle
letter 'i' became the big I and sin was brought into existence.
When the first head of human race fell, sin entered into the world,
and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men.
This big 'I' cannot be conquered because it has something to do with
free choice.
To rectify the effect of this unconquerable foe, the Son of God became
flesh as one of us.
As the Son of man the big "I" must be denied to the extreme, even unto
death. Hence the deadly struggle in the garden of Getshemane that lead
to the cross of Golgotha.
Dear reader, we are either in the first Adam or the last Adam. We are
either part
of the fallen race that we were born into (PHYSICAL BIRTH) , or we
are part of the saved race that we are born again into (SPIRITUAL BIRTH).
The very moment we accept Christ Jesus as our personal Saviour we are
born into the family of the last Adam, thus becoming a partaker of Christ's
life.
How can we get out of Adam ? We came in by birth, therefore we can only
get out by death;
Ro 6:3 Do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Jesus
Christ were baptized into His death?
The cross is the power of God which translate us from our heritage
in Adam to our inheritance in Christ.
In this earthen life we are not able to be freed up completely from
the tyranny of the big "I" (self) until the redemption of our body takes
place.
Ro 8:21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
