Issy's Credits & Links
Though unable to work outside my home due to complications of Systemic Lupus and Multiple Sclerosis, I continue pursuing my career as a freelance writer. I have several publishing credits behind me, including short stories, articles, and poetry. I have completed my first book, but have yet to get it sold.
My two most recent publications are:
1) A personal profile article -- an inspirational piece about my father's more than 10 year experience with cancer and chemotherapy, titled,
"Wood Working For Life".
This writing appeared in the September 1998 issue of
"GRIT: American Life and Traditons" Magazine.
~ and ~
2) "Bless The Children" which appeared in the January 9, 2000 issue of GRIT. This is also a non-fiction inspirational story inspired by my son's first day of Kindergarten.
Both of these short stories are posted here at The Diner, along with a nice variety of my other types of writing. I write non-fiction, personal-profiles, inspirational, poetry, how-to's, essays, and domestic comedies. I've had numerous pieces published locally and a few In-State (Oklahoma), so I am still among the "starving artists" of the world. Since being online, I've had requests from various individuals and committees for posting-rights to several articles. Following is a complete listing of my online writings.
~~The Lupus Book Committee Forum~~
An article detailing my experiences with symptoms, physicians, and after many years, finally a diagnosis. I was very honored that the Lupus Book Committee contaced me, asking for permission to post this article and have shown an interest in using it in their forthcoming, non-profit Lupus Book.
"Sisters"
A human interest article depicting the "family" ties amongst friends.
"On Which Side of the Mirror Do You Live?"
A spiritually-philosophical look at perception and attitude.
HotSprings Health & Fitness News
I am a feature writer for the HotSprings News, providing a different article each month.
~~ Kenneth Curson Memorial ~~
"A Tribute to Mr. Curson"
Mr. Kenneth Curson was a wonderful teacher of mine, then of my daughter. He recently passed away at the young age of 54, due to cancer. The article I wrote for his family appeared in our local news paper and is posted on his Memorial page. You can also find links to my home town from this site!
