Dax's death was tragic...but necessary, in many ways. She was, without a doubt, the pivotal character on DS9...the centre connecting the family. Her death allowed us to see each character near to her crumble a little more...and gave the war new meaning. It was no longer a "game". It killed a beloved character.
Ezri will never "replace" Jadzia...she can only grow from the character and create her own niche in the family. Which is much better than "replacing" anyone.
Ds9 is a wonderful show...one of the few quality shows on television, and the best Trek series. Television is missing a great thing.

Such a pointless, inconsequential death for such a wonderful woman.
Ezri could never replace Jadzia--only succeed her. At least the symbiont lives.
Deep Space Nine is more inclusive that previous series, in that it's not confined to Starfleet characters. It's also more political.

Big mistake, I feel that Jadzia's death was a major crippling factor that prevents further exploits which could be examined in possible future DS9 feature movies , No, not really., Obviously not, it is sad that Voyager is the only ST series left.
Now that TNG and DS9 are gone and Voyager preparing for it's last season, it is time to expand. Perhaps a Vulcan or Klingon Series or even a throw back concept that was popular in the 70's a series of different shows airing in the same timespot on different weeks. like the Mystery movie, but utilizing four separate ST series.

I think it will/has created a new perspective & Ezri will/has brought a new character whose addition will be a positive one., No, but she has created her own place on DS9.
NO, DS9 was a creative master piece and will be missed dearly by all its fans.
Star Trek is an amazing show(s) it has created a positive future in which we can hope our future turns out like it. It is amazing how all of the producers, directors & writers have made everything fit together.

It was a good dose of reality. You can't have happy endings all the time. It's dangerous out there, and even good humanoids die.
It's not really fair to compare a character that's grown and "belonged" for 6 years to a "new kid on the Promenade". There wasn't enough time in one season for the writers to completely develop her character. Ezri had lots of potential, though.
No, but Voyager keeps the Trek spirit going for me., Star Trek TV and movies must continue at all costs.

I think you miss the point. Jadzia had to go because Terry wanted to go. And I think they made a few rather good plots with Ezri. Although she goes a little bit on your nerves because she's always talking, her relationship with Julian brings a fresh wind.
I think Nicole deBoer didn't have time to develop the character like Terry did with Jadzia. If the series lasted longer, she would have been able to adapt more to the new role.
Never! We have to start a petition for a new ST series. They are also going to cancel Voyager soon. What shall we watch then?!, After its bumpy start, DS9 developed after the 3rd season and became the best ST show (in my opinion). I love the continuous storyline which I really missed in TNG. Although Voyager is taking it up a little. I have to admit that Voyager is, too, a great show.

I think that the death of Jadzia shouldn't have happened and Terry Farrell should've stayed for the last series, Ezri Dax is a good character but it is a shame that she will only be on it for the last season.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!, I think DS9 is the best incarnation of star trek but the new star trek that will replace it in a few years might be just as good if, not better

I thought it was well done. It was my understanding that she wanted to leave the show.
No. The character was not well defined. More time was needed in order for the character grow., It won't be for a long time. The relationship between Sisco and his son was a beautiful thing to see on television.
Jadzia was given short shrift in the finale. That was a disappointment. It has been the only thing to mar my memory of Deep Space Nine.
