Walked down from Merrion Hall Thursday, 8th. October, 1998. Warmly greeted by MaryAnne, the owner, in a light-filled hallway with apricot wainscotting and satin wallpaper in the stairwell. The dining room is in the front, and I was shown to room #2 on the floor above. Through a large window which opened onto a little balcony, the twin room overlooked the Four Seasons hotel being constructed across the road . Wardrobe, tea and coffee facilites with the shortbread biscuits a nice touch. Attractive floral chintz drapes, matching bedspreads and pretty floral sheets gave the feeling of being in the guest room, rather than simply a guest. The en-suite was compact and tiled in white. The shower was a pleasant suprise - larger than expected with double doors that opened inwards - and good water pressure. Breakfast downstairs in the morning, in the light-filled terracotta dining room, where the large solid dining table was set. I didn't see a menu, yet MaryAnne prepared me an omelette with fresh salmon - certainly a treat. Cereals, juice, tea and coffee were on the large sideboard, and although the family area was out the back, it felt as though 'the rest of the family' would be joining us shortly. Perhaps the radio, the pictures, dried floral arrangements made it feel more like a home. Happily recommended - please say hello from me ! Departed Friday morning, 9th. October, back to Merrion Hall.
