My Ranting

Hobby : Zoids - 30/08/2006:
a lil (sad + lenghty) Kris's zoids his-story (lazy, so took from introductions at ZP):
part 1-
as with most other zoiders, started with zoids as a kid first one i ever recall having was bought by grandad in philippines a few of the whiteheads. from then on others came as presents though mostly the small scale wind up ones. the only motorized zoids i had were zoidzilla(dunno how i ended with this box instead of gojulas) + salamander. but all of them lost now in philippines. i did try to recover them when i was older and went back for vacation (after rediscovering zoids) but only found the weight of zoidzilla's tail and various small parts of of small wind-ups (most of my other toy collections gone too, mask, TF, dino-riders (fav), robotech(all my VF's!!!), beast warriors, he-man, g.i.joe, gobots..)

part 2-
later in life i had moved to singapore. here i still bought other toys as well as zoids, though my collections werent as big as before as was growing up. the largest i ever remember getting here is orudios. strangely ive never owned any deathsaurers, US or madthunders though i remember drooling at their boxes before. And after thinking about it, totally regret not buying at least one KingG, Gilvader or gungy. at some point i totally stopped buying any toys and ended up hooked on games (video games are baaad) and forgotten about all my collection, hence stored in closet, forgotten/broken/thrown (this was near the end of 16-bit console era and entering "next" gen consoles playstation+saturn)

part 3-
after highschool i moved to canada for 3 years: this was the lowest point in my toy collecting days, ive only bought a few toys SD gundam The O x2 (i dunno.. i found it cute and FAT), perfect grade wing gundam, gm sniper HG, tons of warhammer40k figs (at least got me into painting + modelling), mechwarrior CMG (waste a money.. whole first line made obsolete with later expansions), some virtual on posable figures from kotobukiya (mostly of fei-yun/yin?) and last of all ghost in the shell motoko + rei ayanami (hospital clothes) dolls/figurines <- actual DOLLS ZERO ZOIDS! ive passed by many of the Hasbro and some kenner (techno?) zoids in toys r us, and looked at some of the boxes, but never bought any. up till now i wonder why..

part 4-
back in singapore, zero games + zero toys + zero old friends (all moved out).. first year and a half is a blank, i have no recollection of what i did other than studying, mustve been too boring as everyday was just home -> school (shatec in bukit batok) -> home. im glad it was raining one time home so i ended up walking around in clementi and into bestway's toy section. saw a lot of b-daman, megaman models and zoids~ didnt buy any that day but at least zoids and toys in general have been planted back into my head. later on i bought a leoblaze to try out what blox were like (though never grew into it then), then a command wolf and so on. never knew theyre (bestway) were going to close down or else i wouldve helped to clear more of their stock. i even bought zoids comics that chuang yi had released. now im glad i have something interesting to do in my life again and help me start looking for others things to keep me busy (anime, manga, music, gashapon tikams, idol net stalking LOL Yuko Ogura + Shihono Ryou~ HOO~) :P

thankies to all who had patience to read.

id especially like to thank rapid culture, la tendo, m workshop the now gone monster store at sunshine and various department stores who put up with a guy who mostly browsed as was a bit anti-social and introverted after coming back to singapore. also to katoots + ZP forums for putting up with my unintentional spamming.

Animated Images : That girly pic on top - 26/05/2005:
You know that animated gif image of a girl that shows her various emotions on top of this page? That happens to be one of my few favourite images in my collection (^o^)/ I've kinda forgotten where ive downloaded the image from, as it has been around seven years since I first remember getting this image so you can't really blame me for forgetting which site it was from right? Although I suspect it was from wandering the many sites in classic Anipike.. However, I do know that the image came from an old japanese dating simulation game, it took me 4 years just to find that information by accident while viewing a video of mixed japanese shows made for me by Will from Anime Jyanai (Vancouver, B.C., Canada). Although I don't know the name of the game (or if it was an actual dating or hentai game hehehe) or what company produced it, but from the graphics I estimate it to be from around the late 80's to early 90's era.
But enought about that, don't you think it's cute? (^o^)/ when i first started out going around in the internet, I was around fifteen years old, I think (told you I was forgetful). And back in those days, in my opinion there wasn't that much stuff to do; unlike today where there are many great sites to go to that have interactive games and such. Back then it (the net/web/whatever) was mostly filled with personal homepages, ftp's, bbs (bulletin board systems) and chat programs. Online gaming was restricted to MUD's and "role-playing" in chatrooms (^,^);; But since it was a favourite image of mine, I tended to use it as my forum pic often and always got mistaked for a girl and got hit on by other guys (T,T)/ disgusting stuff that was.
Well, I've sidetracked from the original rant topic so I'd just like to let you know that if you also like that image (emotion.gif), please go ahead and "save as" to your computer. After all, I got it for free and I'd like to share it with anyone who also likes it (^,^)/.

Life Story : Drawings - 16/05/2005:
When i was younger i liked to doodle during classes (yup, i started out drawing stickmen) i read American comics, watched Disney + Warner Bros. cartoons and mostly drew stories about my classmates. As years went by i was influenced with the Japanese style of drawing through manga and anime. As such in 2001 i entered VanArts in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for a summer intensive in classical animation and afterwards a year for classical then another year for computer animation.
My story isnt sweet and simple though, although i passed the summer intensive course for classical animation and got my certificate, it was on borderline. Afterwards i failed both the classical year and the computer animation year even though the school was kind enough to give me as many chances as they could. However, due to my preference towards Japanimation, i wasnt gung-ho about drawing mickey mouse, bugs bunny or basically anything related to american animation anymore. That was a big mistake on my part for being an idiot and lazy.
But i wouldn't necessarily say it was a waste, i did attend some of the life drawing classes and learnt how to use animation programs such as Maya and Softimage, as well as experiencing the process of how to make drawings become animated features. Even though i couldn't cope with the constand body movement and synchronized mouth to voice-over required for american animation, i had learned how to do thumbnail sketches, storyboards, using Key frames and the history of american animation.
Given the chance, after graduating from my Diploma in Hotel Management (quite a big jump in career choices eh?) and if i have the time and my own money; I'd like to finish of what i started and perhaps redo my years of classical + computer animation (VanArts: Vancouver, B.C., Canada), media arts (Sheridan: Oakville, Ontario, Canada) and Japanese language class (various institutions). But I'd also like to learn them as part of my hobby, not as a prospective career. For myself, I don't think with my current personality, that i should mix my hobbies/interests and work. My personality and work habits now are vastly different from back then when i flunked two years in a row, now i rarely miss a class or even come in late. my work cant be compared to before, as i am currently doing theory classes versus the stacks of drawings needed to fill out a 15-minute cartoon short and long hours under a table lamp. But i really fear reverting back to my old self, looking back at my past i really hate myself then. bleh~~

Board Game : Navia Drapt - 09/05/2005:
It's a board game that i'd like to promote (both on the web and in singapore). Made by Bandai, and released first in North America, it's a Fantasy version the age-old game of Chess. Termed as a collectible miniature game, it has an intriguing background storyline, unique "drapting" system that enhances gameplay and frequently updated chapters detailing the current events for the story involving the four current Navia's released (Estelle, Debora, Io, Krra) for more information please visit Navia Drapt's homepage for info on story, figure pieces and community forum.
Currently for my own collection i bought the Estelle and Debora starter sets and one Unleashed Darkness booster, so in total i have 2 Navias' (N-01 Estelle + N-02 Debora) and 15 Maseitai (M-01 to M14 + M-21 to M23)

Sweeth Tooth : Pastries - 07/05/2005:
Do you like any pastries? i like brownies, cheesecakes, pecan pies and custard (flan, leche flan, etc) \(',^) of course that means i have a sweet tooth~ just love em so much! But it doesn't mean i eat them everday! Nope. in fact, the last time i ate any of the above was a home-baked cheesecake from a friend around 3 months ago (^,^)/ i dont even remember the last time i ate a brownie or pecan pie (^o^)/ probably cus i dun got the spare cash to feed my desires (T,T)/ so Ex (expensive) in singapore.. sigh.. PASTRIES FOREVER! I'll learn to make a delicious (choose one above, or add new item) and let you try it someday! (^o^) Yah~~

Super Powers : Flight - 25/04/2005:
If i had any super powers, the first one I want to have is the power of flight. I'd love to be able to fly in the sky, by any means; such as mutation to grow wings i.e. Angel from the original X-men (Marvel comics) or fly through the air using mental powers just so i can do the Superman (DC comics) thing and fly around.
I don't really know why i chose flight out of every other power available. Maybe out of all the other powers, there's not as much harm that flying could do compared to having the strength to lift tanks or ability to shoot energy beams or something.
