Jordan Stark arrived in Bay City as a man shrouded in mystery. He headed the Lumina foundation, which was supposedly dedicated to allowing people to access their full mental potential. Jordan held a grand ball at Lumina with most of Bay City in attendance. Strange happenings at the ball made the local residents curious as to Stark's true intentions. Eventually, it became clear that Jordan was searching for the soul of his dead wife, Amalie. He discovered her spirit inside Amanda Cory and vowed to free Amalie so that he could reunite with her. To this end, he transformed himself into David Halliday, a handsome investor for Amanda's magazine, Brava. Jordan nearly succeeded in freeing Amalie's spirit, but Cameron Sinclair stopped him just in time to save Amanda's life. When Jordan was "sucked back into the universe", the real David Halliday arrived abruptly in the garden with no memory of what had occurred.
