Rt Hon Countess Mountbatten of Burma CBE CD JP DL AMM The Patron of The Legion of Frontiersmen of the Commonwealth From its inception the Legion of Frontiersmen has in its distinctive way, supported Crown and Country (from the days of Empire to those of Commonwealth) whenever possible. Its proud history illustrates that those who have served within its ranks have been of an original and individual character. Frontiersmen have, by their very nature, to be solitary, steadfast and possessed of enquiring minds and strong wills. The moulding together of such a force was a considerable achievement. From its beginning the Legion of Frontiersmen has been supported by people of integrity and patriotism; with a desire to further the cause of freedom. Not always recognised, but never doubted in its aim, the organisation has stood the test of time and change, and flourishes today. My Grandfather, Prince Louis of Battenberg, was a founder member in 1905. I am delighted to continue my family's association with the Legion of Frontiersmen of the Commonwealth.
