Australian History
The Order of St John of Jerusalem (OSJ) has been established in Australia since the mid 1960s, when it was brought here by the late Bailiff Roland Podesta GCSJ and was established as Commandery under the Priory of Malta. The OSJ in Australia continued under the leadership of Bailiff Dr Hodges and it grew to become a series of four Priories (Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane) under the leadership of a Grand Priory. Subsequently, Australian Grand Priors have been Bailiff Robert G Halliday OAM GCSJ and now Bailiff Ian AA Vassie AM GCSJ.
