It is a widely accepted belief among the WOT communities on the Web that our present age is the age before the Age of Legends. Logic therefore decrees that there should be references to our age hidden among the chapters of the books. I am trying to ferret out some of them.
EOTW:
Page 51 (pb): “Materese the Healer, mother of the wondrous Ind”. An obvious reference to mother Teresa.
Page 51 (bp): “Tales of Mosk the Giant with his lance of fire that could reach around the world, and his wars with Alsbet, the queen of all.” A doubtful parallel to Moscow’s nuclear arsenal. The Alsbet mentioned is a bit unclear, but I suppose it means the western powers. Hopefully reality will not imitate art in this case!

This has to refer to John Glenn

Page 231 (HC). Thom: "Go back to the oldest tales I know, from the Age before the Age of Legends. Did Mosk and Merk really fight with spears of fire, and were they even giants? Was Elsbet really the queen of the whole world, and was Anla really her sister? Was Anla truly the wise counselor, or was it someone else?"
Mosk and Merk are obviously Moscow and America. The spears of fire are nuclear missiles. Elsbet is not connected to Mosk here, so I suppose she is Elizabeth the First. A friend of mine suggested that it Anla was Ann Landers, the advice columnist.
Page 203 (PB) Egwene’s pov: “A silvery thing in another cabinet, like a three-pointed star inside a circle, was made of no substance she knew; it was softer than metal and scratched and gouged, yet even older than any of the ancient bones. From ten paces she could sense pride and vanity.”
This is obviously a Mercedes star.
