Frequently Asked Questions

(and some not so frequently asked questions)

Q: Who are you, anyway?
A: My name is Will Davenport, and you can read my latest hastily written author's info page here.

Q: What's the deal with Maxaghmr?
A: I used to like making a big deal out of having people guess what it was, and sooner or later people got tired of guessing, and so now I'm telling you all what it is once and for all. When I set up my address on AOL, I was listening to the Beatles a lot (and I do mean a LOT). Maxaghmr was my attempt at abbreviating 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer,' one of their songs (track 3 on Abbey Road). Yes, the second A should be capitalized, because as we all know (or soon will know), Ag is the symbol for Silver on the periodic table of the elements. I couldn't think of a great way to shorten hammer, hence 'hmr.'

Q: Why don't you update the page very often?
A: I'm a college student. This means I have a lot of work to do (reading, writing, all that good stuff). That and I'm lazy.

Q: What's your deal with Canada?
A: Well, when I was a young lad growing up in Florida, I became attached to the Toronto Blue Jays, because I liked blue jays. They're blue and they fly and they're birds--what more do you want from me? The Blue Jays were awful back then, as they are now, but let's all remember their days of glory in the early 90s when they won back-to-back World Series. Gradually (and despite my team's pathetic output), I became fascinated with our neighbors to the north and their wonderful land, and now I want to go there. (So if any of you have any desire to travel to Canada for a couple of weeks and have money to fund your part of the trip, let me know).

Q: Where are you going to college?
A: I'm at Texas A&M -- along with my sister (actually, she's graduated now), several of my friends (old and new), and 40,000 others!!

Q: Where can I hear a duck quack?
A: Pick up a phone and dial 1-800-888-3999. Choose option #7.

That's all the frequently asked questions I have for now, I may post some more from time to time.
