Will enters Racquetball Tournament
What? Yeah, you read right--sort of. The tournament is all part of his racquetball class this fall. On this page, you'll be able to keep up with Will's climb up the ladder (or his fall down it!).

Basically, there's 13 courts, and for the most part, there's three people assigned to each court. Everyone plays each other, and the player who goes 2-0 moves up a court, the player who goes 0-2 moves down, and the player who goes 1-1 stays in the court for the next round. (In case everyone is 1-1, there's a system to figure it all out.)
The ladder starts with Court 13 and moves up to Court 8. From there, it starts at Court 1 and works its way to Court 7.

Updates
October 9 -- Tournament play begins. After an inadequate performance in pre-tournament play (which determined ceding), Will was ceded in Court 12. Will showed up to class late (he had to run home and get his goggles), but won both games (11-6, 11-4). On to Court 11!
October 11 -- Will overcame an 0-2 deficit to win 11-2 in the first game. In the second game, Will was down 3-8, but managed to turn the game around and win 11-8. On to Court 10!
October 16 -- One of Will's opponents did not show up today (maybe he saw Will's climb up the tournament ladder and was afraid), so Will and his other opponent played a best 2 of 3 set. Will took the first game 11-7, but couldn't sweep--he came up short in the second game, 9-11. Will then won a shortened third game, 5-1, for the win and now advances to Court 9.
October 18 -- Today was something of an off day for Will's skills (those few that exist). Will couldn't muster up much of anything today, and lost both games 4-11, 8-11. Back to Court 10.
October 23, 25 -- No tournament this week.
October 30 -- No tournament today; the equipment case was locked and the instructor (who has the keys to the case) did not show.
November 1 -- Will's opponents showed up late--one came 20 minutes late, and the other never showed. The arrival of a Mystery Opponent made things interesting, but screwed up the system, because the Mystery Opponent is not in Will's class' tournament ladder. Will lost the first game, 5-11, to an opponent who showed few signs of skill. This opponent then lost 1-11 to the Mystery Opponent. Will got his act together and won a hard-fought 11-8 battle with the Mystery Opponent. Because everyone was 1-1 for the day, court position was determined through adding up individual scores. Will's scores totalled 16, good enough for the middle spot--meaning that he should remain in Court 10, depending on what happens with the Mystery Opponent (who didn't belong in Court 10 in the first place).
November 6 -- One opponent didn't show today, forcing a best 2 of 3 between Will and the opponent who showed. Will took the first game 11-8, but fell behind in the second one early, 2-7. Will almost tied at 8, but lost 8-11. In the tiebreaker, Will led 4-1, but couldn't finish things up, and lost 4-5. So, Will remains once again in Court 10.
November 8 -- Opponent A beat Opponent B 11-8, Will beat Opponent A 11-3, and Opponent B beat Will 11-8. Will remains, once again, in Court 10.
November 13 -- Will faced a left-handed opponent for the first time. Will led by as much as 9-1, but barely held on for the 11-9 win. Will beat his other (right-handed) opponent 11-4. Finally out of Court 10, now it's on to Court 9!
November 15 -- Opponent B never showed, and Will got thoroughly beaten to a pulp by Opponent A. The scores 5-11 and 7-11 do not do justice to the beating Will received. Still, since Opponent B didn't show, Will gets to stay in Court 9.
November 20 -- Tough day--Will lost both games, 5-11 and 8-11, which further proves the theory that Will cannot win in Court 9. Back to Court 10.
November 22 -- Will was scheduled to start in Court 10, and since he missed class, one would assume he would drop to Court 11 for Monday.
November 27 -- Apparently nobody showed up for class last Wednesday, because Will found himself placed in Court 9 again. Will had two rematches today--in the first game, Will played Opponent A from November 20, and won 11-7. In the second game, Will played his opponent from November 6, and won 11-10. This marks the first time Will scored a win in Court 9. This was the last day of tournament play, so Will finishes in Court 8!
