Updates
4/24 -- Will won both games (11-6, 11-8), and Jeff didn't get to play any games, because neither of his opponents showed. Will moves to Court 5, and Jeff, though he should move to Court 1, has requested to remain in Court 8 because it's his favorite.
4/19 -- Will lost both his games (5-11, 1-11), and Jeff split his games (,). Will moves down to Court 4, Jeff stays in Court 8.
4/17 -- Will split his games (11-10, 5-11), and so did Jeff (,). They both stay in Court 5 and 8, respectively.
4/12 -- Will lost both his games (7-11, 3-11). Jeff did the same (,). Jeff moves down to Court 8, and Will stays put (because the third opponent didn't show) in Court 5.
4/10 -- Will split his games (11-6, 9-11). Because the other players in his court also split their games, and Will scored the most points, he moves up a court. Jeff split his games as well (10-11, 11-8). Will moves up to Court 5 and Jeff stays in Court 8.
4/5 -- Will's court was missing a person, setting up a showdown with the same person. He lost the first game (4-11) in a pathetic display of mediocrity, and the second game started off in a similar fashion, but Will managed to turn things around and win (11-6). Will then won the tiebreaker (5-2). This turnaround was due to a new serve Will developed when he was losing 4-6 in the second game. Jeff split his games (5-11, 11-8), and did not provide exciting commentary, hence the lacking narrative I have just provided. Will moves up to Court 4 and Jeff stays put in Court 8.
4/3 -- Will lost both games (5-11, 6-11), and Jeff won both of his (11-2, 11-3). So, Will moves down to Court 3 and Jeff moves up to Court 8.
3/27 -- Skills test this week. Tournament resumes April 3.
3/22 -- Will split his games (11-2, 6-11), and Jeff did the same (11-1, 10-11). So, Will and Jeff stay in Courts 4 and 9, respectively.
3/20 -- Will lost both his games (2-11, 10-11), and Jeff was on a field trip. So, Will and Jeff move down.
3/8 -- Will won one and lost one (11-8, 3-11), and Jeff did the same (11-5, 5-11). So, they both stay put.
3/6 -- Will lost twice (3-11, 7-11) to the same opponent (once again, no third opponent). Jeff lost both of his matches (3-11, 8-15). Will stays in Court 5, Jeff moves down to Court 8.
3/1 -- Both Will and Jeff move up--Will split 2 tough games (9-11, 11-8) against the same opponent (the third guy didn't show), and eked out a win in the tiebreaker (5-4). Jeff won both his games (11-2, 11-6), and we'll have more info later. Movin' on up!
2/27 -- The ceding is over. Somehow, Will was placed in Court 4. Jeff missed the ceding tournament, and was arbitrarily placed in Court 8. Tournament begins this Thursday!
There's 13 courts, with three players to a court. In the interest of time, each game is played to 11 points (not 15). Player A plays Player B, Player A plays Player C, and Player B plays Player C. Let's say Player A wins both games--Player A moves up a court. Let's say Player C lots both games--Player C moves down a court. Player C lost to Player A but beat Player C--Player B stays in the same court until the next day.
If everybody wins one game and loses the other, the person who scored the most points moves up a court, the person who scores least moves down a court, and the other person stays in the same court.
If a player doesn't show up, they forfeit and move down a court. The two players who did show up play each other twice. If they split the two games, they play a tie-breaker game (first to 5 points).
