By Marcus Stringer
I walked along the beach today
I talked and walked with brothers today
They told me of home,
They asked me,
It is! I answered, and realized more fully
The new country treats me well,
I walked and talked with brothers today
Free as we'd want to be
Mount up on wings like eagles.
today, with brothers
brothers from the homeland.
as the sea rolled in, onto the sand.
the how of things that were for me
those things that remain for them.
how are you in your new country?
it seems better here.
the refugee I was.
I am free here
free to be or not to be as I choose.
I'm getting freer all the time.
and longed
for a new home with them.
wherever we wanted to be
We'd soar over the sea, rolled up on sand.
