One such person is Candace Chellew who created the "WHOSOEVER" project in printed form then in "cyber form". What a blessing it is for many people, myself included, to stop by that website like it's an oasis in the desert because in fact (sadly) it is.
Another individual, who has inspired me, is Chuck Tarver who created and continues to electronically publish "Blackstripe". Chuck is an example of a dreamer who put his dream into action and hundreds even thousands of individuals have realized that they are not alone, and they too can dream and do.
The people behind sites like these, whether GLBT in content or not—revive my spirit.
This weekend, we have will a chance to reflect on dreamers and DOERS who have lived among us. The famous one in focus this weekend is Martin Luther King Jr., but he was not the only one. There were dreamers and doers behind the scenes, providing skills and resources toward the beliefs and efforts he promoted.
The Montgomery Bus Boycott was such a success (the launch-pad of the modern movement) not because of Martin Luther King Jr. alone, but because of the hundreds of individuals who gave what they could (one ride a day to two workers, baby-sitting, car repair, escorts etc.) all working together.
Take time out this weekend to remember someone who stood by you when you didn't realize how much you needed it. Let us think of ways to stand by each other and to DREAM and DO as never before.
It is encouraging to see individuals step out service, many times using their own time and expenses for a cause. I know what this sacrifice means and want to say thanks and perhaps encourage others to join hands and give and build the body.
