However, she won a lighter prison term on appeal and was re-sentenced to
15 years.

Died from a drug overdose
Ariele suffered heart and
respiratory failure after eating a piece of crack cocaine left on a soft
drink can her 41-year-old father had been using as a pipe to smoke the
drug. He has been charged with murder.

Donie Deveaux
22 months old
Beaten to death
Donie was beaten to death
by his father, Ladon Delbert Deveaux, because he urinated on the floor.
Fear and pain had marked the 22 months that Donie spent with his parents
before his death. His father would stuff a diaper in his mouth if he accidentally
soiled it and sometimes he was beaten so severely with a belt that scars
were left. On occasion, even during the night, Donie spent hours sitting
on the floor with an empty 12-pack beer box put over his head by his father.
Deveaux has been convicted of first-degree murder.
