Starved to death
Adam died after not being
fed for 29 days. His parents, Kenneth and Christy Eichler, were charged
with involuntary manslaughter, which carried a maximum sentence of seven
years in prison. Kenneth was sentenced to 29 days in jail and Christy was
sentenced to a fine and five months in jail. However the sentence was suspended
and probation was ordered.
This was their second trail
after the first trial ended in a mistrial. Christy did not testify in either
trail and since she didn't testify, rules of evidence prevented prosecutors
from introducing a past conviction of abuse in a baby-sitting incident
where she had slapped and bruised the faces of 2-year-old-twin brothers
in her care.
