was suffocated by her mother's boyfriend, Robert Bean who received a sentence
that sent him to jail for three years.
Jakes's mother and Linda
Scott, Kelsie's aunt, joined together in a campaign to create Jake's Law,
a proposal to ratchet up prison sentences significantly in cases of child
homicides. The ultimate aim of the law is to keep convicted child killers
behind bars for at least the amount of time it would have taken the child
they murdered to graduate from high school.
