Beaten to death
Bethany was bashed and stomped
to death by her father, Mark Thomas Griffin, 24, because she wouldn't stop
crying. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading no contest
to second-degree murder. A grand jury had indicted Griffin for first-degree
murder, which might have resulted in the death penalty. But prosecutors
reduced the charge to second-degree and dropped an aggravated child abuse
count in exchange for the guilty plea.
