It's a boy. My first moth emerged this morning.  A male, he is currently sitting on a large cocoon. My guess is this cocoon contains a female moth and he is waiting for her to emerge. I hope she doesn't wait too long. They only live about 5 days and last year the males died before they could mate with the only female.
