News Flash! In September, 08 Tag finished his AKC UD!!! He got his three legs in a total of 8 shows. He placed for all 3 legs and his scores improved w/each new Q as well! Good job, Tag! Now onto that UDX!
Welcome to Tag's page. Tag is a rescue border collie that came as a "test" dog in February 2004. He was born on October 15, 2002 on a farm in south central Minnesota. He was the last of a litter of purebred pups, but his owners couldn't place him so they surrendered him. A friend of mine adopted him and he used his intense little eyes to burn a hole into her heart. She kept him for over a year until circumstances could no longer easily permit it. He came here originally to just be a "stock maintience" dog. When Pete left, though, a lot more time opened up for Tag and he's been allowed to really shine. Tag recieved an ILP number and he's registered as a red tri.
Tag has a ton of natural instinct for the sheep (as you can see from the pictures). He is teaching me so much about herding I can barely keep up. He's much different then the shelties, both in good ways and in bad ways. It's fun to work an eye-breed dog for once! I think he's going to go far with the sheep. He sure enjoys it.
Tag and I have recently started participating in Skyhoundz Disc Dog tournaments. We did our very first Distance/Accuracy (DA) competition in July of 05 and did awful (it would help if I could throw). We practice all winter long and did 4 in the summer of 06. Tag took a 5th place at Highland Park fest in July and a 2nd place at Zumbro Falls in September of 06. We tried freestyle for the first time (w/only about a month of training) in September and got 5th place. Tag is crazy for the disc!
And, like all of the dogs around here, Tag has been learning obedience. He's doing excellent. His attention training is going great and he's really enjoying working. He's currently training for utility and has one ASCA CDX leg (which he earned w/a 195.5 on his first try out!). Good job, Tag!
