EVENING PRAISE AND PRAYER

- PROCLAMATION OF THE LIGHT
- A candle may be lit and lifted in the midst of the community.
- Light and peace in Jesus Christ.
- Thanks be to God.
- EVENING HYMN
- PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
- We praise and thank you, O God,
- for you are without beginning and without end.
- Through Christ, you created the whole world;
- through Christ, you preserve it.
- You made the day for the works of light
- and the night for the refreshment of our minds and our bodies.
- Keep us now in Christ; grant us a peaceful evening,
- a night free from sin; and bring us at least to eternal life.
- Through Christ and in the Holy Spirit,
- we offer you all glory, honor, and worship,
- now and forever.
- Amen.
- SCRIPTURE
- Psalm 23, 90, 121, or 141; Genesis 1:1-5, 14-19; Exodus 13:21-22;
- Matthew 25:1-13; Romans 5:6-11; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-10;
- Revelation 22:1-5; or other readings.
- SILENCE
- May conclude with a short prayer or "Amen".

- PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
- The following or other litany of intercession may be prayed,
- during which any person may offer a brief prayer of intercession or petition.
- After each prayer, the leader may conclude: Lord, in your mercy,
- and all may respond: Hear our prayer.

- the people of this congregation...
- those who suffer and those in trouble...
- the concerns of this local community...
- the world, its people, and its leaders...
- the church universal - its leaders its members, and its mission...
- the communion of saints...
