Midday Prayer
- “Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted;
- but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength,
- they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
- they shall run and not be weary,
- they shall walk and not faint.” - Isaiah 40:30-31
- “Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
- naught be all else to me, save that thou art.
- Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
- waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.
- Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word;
- I ever with thee and thou with me,
Lord;
- thou and thou only, first in my heart,
- great God of heaven, my treasure thou art.” - Irish hymn
- Most gracious God, regard not my sins,
- but my faith, the faith of your Church,
- and
give to me the peace of that heavenly city,
- where you live and reign, now and for ever.
- God of mercy, this midday moment of rest is your welcome gift.
- Bless the work I
have begun, make good its defects,
- and let me finish it in a way that pleases you.
- Grant this in the name above every name, the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
- “Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord; praise the name of the Lord.
- Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time on and forevermore.
- From the rising of the sun to its setting the name of the Lord is to be praised.
- The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
- Who is like the Lord our God, who is seated on high,
- who looks far down on the heavens and the earth?
- He raises the poor from the dust, and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
- to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people.
- He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children.
- Praise the Lord!” - Psalm 113
