Redeye Net Picnic 2002

The Redeye Net held it's annual picnic in Potato Creek State Park at North Liberty, Indiana on September 15th, 2002. The Redeye Net members and family met at the Quaking Aspen picnic shelter between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM and the grill was lit shortly after 11:30 AM. It wasn't long there after that we all began to enjoy our picnic lunches. There was steak, hamburgers, hotdogs cooked over the bed of coals. Multiple kinds of dishes and desserts was brought to share with the group.

You could enjoy conversation with anyone you pleased after the meal as we did and mingle among members to visit and become friends in person as we have done via the radio. Some new faces was there this year and then some familiar faces was again in the group. The day started out with rain showers but then the skies cleared and we enjoyed a pleasant day.

We held the drawing for the door prizes. Some of these being an angle grinder, digital camera, a ceramic statue of an Angel, a handheld vacuum cleaner, a 2 ½lb fire extinguisher (donated by Glen Jewell KB9IGL ), and 3 cd's of Amateur Radio antenna and propagation programs ( donated by Allen Bare KC8CLJ ).

We did have a door prize that was won by a licensed amateur operator that was present at the picnic. The prize was an Alinco DJ-195 handheld radio.

Then a 50/50 drawing was held netting a total of $36.00, the winner of the drawing was John Ramsey KC9ACX. John and the Redeye Net shared the drawing making it possible for next years picnic shelter rental at Potato Creek State Park.

In the mean time here is a couple of pictures of the cake that Harold "KC8HKD" and his wife Trena "KC8HKH" brought to share with us this year. It resembles a Kenwood Radio vintage or the model is unknown, but it was a neat treat.

By the way it was delicious too, Jimmie "N9VXQ"!
