ON SEPTEMBER 21st, 2003 REDEYE NET MEMBERS GATHERED FOR THE ANNUAL PICNIC AT POTATO CREEK STATE PARK NEAR NORTH LIBERTY, INDIANA. THE DAY WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY IT WAS WARM NOT TO BREEZY AND VERY COMFORTABLE FOR AN OUTING. THE GRILL WAS FIRED UP AROUND 11:45 AM MAKING THE COALS READY AT 12:00 PM. THERE WAS HOTDOGS, HAMBURGERS, STEAKS, BRATS AND SAUSAGES GRILLED OVER THE COALS. SEVERAL DISHES WAS BROUGHT TO SHARE WITH THE GROUP. MACARONI SALAD, POTATO SALAD, DEVILED EGGS, BAKED BEANS, APPLE PIE, CAKES, COOKIES, BANANAS, APPLES, PEARS, PEPPERS, TOMATOES AND ONIONS. THIS MAY NOT BE A COMPLETE LIST BUT IT WAS WHAT I SAW.

HAROLD AND TRENA BROUGHT THE RADIO CAKE THIS YEAR. IT TASTED AS GOOD AS IT LOOKED, I CAN VERIFY THAT. HAROLD ALSO BROUGHT ALONG A COUPLE OF INTERESTING ITEMS ONE BEING A GAME WHICH INVOLVED GOLF BALLS TIED TOGETHER WITH STRING AND SOME STANDING GOALS MADE FROM PVC PIPE. IT USED THE SAME PRINCIPLE OF HORSE SHOES HE EXPLAINED BY TOSSING THE GOLF BALLS AND THEM WRAPPING AROUND THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF CROSS PIECES FOR SCORING. IT LOOKED LIKE A LOT OF FUN FOR ALL WHO TRIED IT OUT. HIS SECOND ITEM WAS PROTECTION FOR THE TALK IN STATION OPERATOR. IT WAS A MARSHMALLOW SHOOTER POWERED BY AIR. IT REALLY WORKS WELL HI HI!

IT WAS A FUN FILLED DAY AND WE ALL ENJOYED THE CHANCE TO VISIT AND TALK WITH ONE ANOTHER AS THE DAY PROGRESSED. SEVERAL FOLKS AND THEIR FAMILIES ENJOYED TAKING A SHORT WALK THROUGH THE WOODS AFTER THE MEAL. IT WAS ALMOST A SHAME THE DAY HAD TO COME TO AN END, BUT RETURNING HOME GAVE US A CHANCE TO REFLECT ON ENJOYING THE TIME AND COMRADERY OF OUR AMATEUR FRIENDS AND THEIR FAMILIES. I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT THOSE ATTENDING ENJOYED THE PICNIC AS MUCH AS I DID.
