I took the names page off the Bible studies category of the Geocities members directory and put the singles group page under Catholic singles.

September 24, 2004

I just changed the notice on the index page on when it was most recently updated, it had said September 11, 2004. I may have done other changes on the page on that day. Did that result in an increase in hits on the names articles. I do not think any significant part of the hits come from this index page, did this change how Google Indexed the pages, probably not.

September 25, 2004

There were 196,100 hits on September 25 at 6:45 AM. I can use this to calculate the monthly hits. I should record the number at the end of each month to compare. This would be a lot easier than some of the calculations I have been making.

October 1, 2004 I noticed today that the number of hits total went down, because they dropped one month from a couple of years ago. So I will have to just use the stats within the month currently at 8:34 October 1 the hit counter was at 192,590. I should be able to use this to make comparisons in October. Perhaps I can get estimates for several months.

October 5, 2004 I changed the amguide title and meta tag description at 9:05 PM October 5, we will see if it works

November 3, 2004 I think that the spider came November 2. It seems to have come about October 17 or 18 too. Is it coming once every two weeks. I have a pattern for s/balance, r/uhf, and maybe s/harassement. I think I found the same thing for Oscar, which I changed the title on. When you change the title, you get lost on google, when the spider checks you, you come back. But do you come back all the way. What is my difficulty on AM guide. Should I choose a different strategy for pages that do not come in first. Harassment is not working, I should change the title on about the 12th. It seems like the case with oscar that the first time the spider went over the changed page that it did not help. It was the second time that it came back. I will have to check farther.

November 4, 2004 I have changed the wording of the link from mystat to atheists, we will see if it works

November 6 Yes, the change in wording did work. People do not use pages that are marked as new and under construction. I do not know if the extra words helped much. I will have to add another link in the section on atheism and Islam to see if that works also, but it is best to not put in those links for a while to see how what I have done works. The big harvest I was hoping for has not worked yet.

November 11 I just changed the title for n-end at 4:43 PM today. I will have to see in a few weeks if this works. I also changed the title of the page on letters that got comic book Bibles into the library.

This is November 17, a couple of days ago geocities went back to the old way of putting up advertising. They have taken down the stuff on frames. It might be good if they had a way of keeping the ads on the page as one scrolled down but the frames seem to have caused the counters to be messed up. The count was coming in low and the stats said the hits were coming from the page that was hit. I do not understand the internal hit thing, but one wonders if it had to do with the ads. I will have to continue investigating.

November 18. I noted that hits on at least the mystat page peak on Wednesdays. This makes straight forward since, since interests goes down on weekends.

November 22. I repared the link on churchstat to atheist and put in a link to Islam. I also put in links to islam and atheist on statistics. I also put the links to churchstat and mystat in bold and wrote some more explination for the lower link to churchstat and mystat. I also wrote more aggressive headings for the links on these pages. I need to check in a couple of days and find out if this worked. The percentage of hits that are listed as being from the page that was hit continues to decline. Perhaps I need to check on davispublicaccess to see if I can rack up own hits by going to the advertizements and coming back. The page hits on amradio have revcovered some but are still below what they were.

November 25 I redid a bunch of links on Atheist and Islam Wednesday and checked them so their are three hits from me on each. No luck recently, I do not know what is wrong. Could it be that I have fans who checked them once and are not coming back, but will check the other pages regularly, or is it just luck.
