Career
The workplace has been the source of considerable frustration for Chandler who found himself stuck for more than five years at what was supposed to be a temporary job in data processing. Doesn't someone like him deserve a job that was more.. more... interesting than whatever he does with numbers?
Unfortunately for him, even a test at a job counselling agency confirms that he is suited for a job in a large multinational company. Amazingly enough, the threat of him quitting managed to earn him a big promotion, an office upgrade ( from a cubicle to a cube! ) and also a secretary.
All this seems to have boosted Chandler's passion for keeping up the corporate WENUS ( Weekly Estimated Net Usage Statistics ). Until now however, none of his friends know exactly what he does at work.
Joey: What kind of profit is that?! And you call yourself an accountant.
So no one really knows what Bossman Bing really does. Except it's something to do with numbers, processing, needs a briefcase and has something to do with transponding...
But the success in his work has alienated some of his workplace buddies as they have started to look upon him as the Bossman. Although they think he's a great boss, they still make fun of the way he talks, laugh at his mannerisms and they even do him. This was evidently revealed to him when he hired Phoebe as his secretary once. She obviously became quite popular with his employees and joined in with them in making fun of Bossman Bing.
The man has a propensity for hiring his friends as he has hired both Phoebe and Joey before. Hiring Joey turned out to be another mistake as Joey started taking on a whole new personality - which irritated Chandler no end. Apart from having an imaginary wife and kids, the work Joey was also a major apple-polisher and didn't think twice about back-stabbing a co-worker.
In his workplace, Chander also suffers a whole lot of physical abuse. His superior, Doug, has a thing for his butt ( who doesn't? ) and frequently gives praise to Chandler by smacking him on his taut derriere. To survive the horrors of his workplace, Chandler has also come up with a work laugh. He's also quite a sniveling suck-up in the workplace ( which drives Monica up the wall ) and uses his fake laugh with his boss' lame jokes.
