This Page is African-American culture in the Cyber Age! The Tenor of African American Culture has Changed! Today I live in a time of goin'fo'mine materialism. "Black" Outraged White and Black People; too Ethnic, too limiting. The whole population was overwhelmed by the complexity of Race. They wanted "A new Black Aesthetic" Group Self Difinition is always Tricky! Buppie: Ambitious, Acquisitive, Determined to Integrate by all means. B-Boy/Girl: Molded by Hip-Hop, Tragedies of Life, and in General Get Loose. BAP: Black American Princess/Prince, Family Heritage, Borders Arrogance. BoHo: Challenges Black and White Stereotypes. Thoughtful, Self-Conscious. B-Boy style has flowed from its Ghetto base to White subrbia, it affects Language, Clothes, Music, the whole Economic gamut. Spike Lee's, "She's Gotta Have It" gives you a peek at each of these four types. BoHo Nola, B-Boy Mars, Bap Greer, and Buppie Jamie. All of us live in slightly different worlds, shaping our experiences and attitudes, fighting to survive and thrive in mainstream America. |
