THE ENTIRE CAST AND CREW Sunset Beach
January 6, 1997 - December 31, 1999
Well, folks, it's over. No more "Sunset Beach." Everyone associated with the show has moved on, and it's passed by just as quickly as it came. And everyone deserves a big cheer for all the hard work they put in. So, every few days, we'll be spotlighting a different cast member, starting in alphabetical order with the cast, then some of the bigger recurring characters, and then moving on to crew. We are now on the third cast member. To review past spotlights visit: Spotlight Archives.

SAM BEHRENS
Character: Gregory Richards
Greggy. Oy, he was a bastard. But Sam Behrens made you love to hate him. You couldn't wait for his next plan. He had a way of talking that made you hang on every word. We saw the slimy,
evil, loathsome side of Gregory through the writing and through his schemes and hatred, but whenever possible, Sam reminded us that the Prince of Darkness could be, and was, human. His rage when he found out what really happened to his son comes to mind: that explosive scene in the nursery where he nearly strangled Annie... And when he turned up after "death" as stammering, doddering old Uncle Tobias, there was even more. Gregory realized that he had it all, waiting for him, and he threw it away and could never get it back. The range of emotions there was truly impressive. I read recently that Sam's favorite movie is "It's A Wonderful Life." Think it had any influence there? And that underlying love for Olivia. We all knew those
embers still burned. And it took until he was locked away for good for it to resurface. When Livvy visited him in jail and was about to leave after finding out that they still loved each other, and she gently touched his face and he pulled toward her...the longing in his eyes was enough to make tears well up. 'The Silver-Tongued Powerhouse,' I used to call Gregory. Sam
brought a lot of power to the role that was greatly needed. It's just a shame he didn't get to don one of his trademark suits before the end. - Duante
