Annie rushes to Caitlin with Olivia's baby and gives it to Caitlin and Sean. Meanwhile Olivia ends up in a hospital in San Francisco with Doctor Brock. Doctor Brock is blackmailed by Annie to tell Olivia that her baby died.

Being devious, Annie uses the information that she found concerning what Gregory conspired to do with Doctor Brock to his daughter Caitlin, to black mail the good Doctor. Doctor Brock is then forced into injecting Olivia with a drug which will suppress her short term memories.

Gregory arrives and is devastated with the loss of his baby. He accuses Olivia of drinking to excess which has resulted in the death of his baby. Olivia denies that charges. Gregory is insistent and says to her that the alcohol must be interfering with her memory.

Back with Caitlin and she is having her own problems in that Tyus wishes to examine the baby. If he examines the baby then he would discover that Caitlin is not the real mother. Annie steps in and signs Trey's charts thus making Tyus think that another doctor checked Caitlin and the baby over.

Cole is over joyed to see the new baby however he too has his own dark secrets. Olivia's baby that "died" might have been Cole's instead of Gregory's. Cole confronts Olivia and he becomes suspicious that Doctor Brock knows more than he is letting on. Cole searches Doctor Brock's files for any signs that something funny is going on but Gregory interrupts him and Cole has to stand down from his search.

Olivia tries desperately too remember what is going on but can not. Gregory starts to become more frustrated with his wife and the pair begin to grow apart. Eventually Gregory oversteps the mark once too often and leaves on a cruise.

Sean is also having difficulty with everything. He is guilty and believes that Annie stole the baby and that the mother did not really want to give it up. Annie hires a woman who needs money as a stand in to stop Sean from going on and to "prove" that their really was a birth mother. Annie's plan is almost blown though when the girl is on Leeza, revealed as a con artist but she manages to pull her plan off successfully and Sean is convinced.

Life continues as normal for the Richard's family except for Olivia who while away on her cruise tries to kill herself but someone stops her. AJ Deschanel, Cole's estranged father, is also on the cruise. He convinces Olivia to return to Sunset Beach. Olivia agrees.

As time goes on Olivia and Gregory divorce and Gregory marries again to Annie.

AJ is insistent that Olivia remember what happened. Olivia also tries to remember everything. Eventually a little bit about where she went that day comes back to her. AJ and Olivia head off to the Cabin but nothing comes back to Olivia.

Caitlin and Cole are preparing for the Christening of Trey. Olivia, AJ, Gregory, Annie are all at the event. While the ceremony is taking place Olivia faints and has to go to the toilet to freshen up. Annie follows her. While in the bathroom at the church Olivia begins to remember what Annie did to her. Annie agrees to tell Olivia where her baby is. Annie then drags her to the chapel and points to Trey.
