Magic: the Gathering was the first of it's kind to be released in the Gaming Industry. This started a new genre of games: the CCG or Collectible Card Games. Since it's initial release in 1993, Magic became the hottest game around. It is also the longest-running CCG right now. Magic: the Gathering is created by Richard Garfield and is registered by Wizards of the Coast.
As Legend of the 5 Rings has it's clans, Magic has it's colors. The different colors of Magic each draws it's power from certain Lands. Each of the 5 colors has it's characteristic strength and weaknesses.
Red Magic: Red magic feeds on the vast energy boiling deep in the heart of the mountains. Masters of earth and fire, red magicians specialize in the violence of chaos and combat.
Blue Magic: Blue magic flows from the islands and thrives on mental energy. Other wizards fear the blue magician's a bility with artifice and illusion, as well as their mastery of the elemental forces of air and water.
Black Magic: Black magic's power comes from the swamps and bogs; it thrives on death and decay. Many wizards shun black magic's self-destructive nature even as they long for it's ruthlessness.
White Magic: White magic draws it's vitality from the untouched, open plains. Though white magicians focus on spells of healing and protection, they also devote plenty of time to the chivalrous art of war.
Green Magic: Green magic gets it's life from the lush fecundity of the forest. Like nature itself, green magic can bring both soothing serenity and thunderous destruction.
Now that you are familiarized with the colors, it is only necessary to teach you about each color's strengths and weaknesses. Go to the Wizard's School to learn a bit more about each color.
For basics on Magic and it's gameplay, follow the Shadow and it will take you to the Nether Void. There you will get a basic tutorial on Magic's gameplay and card types.
