Discuss This Book--When this book was written, it was intennded to be a futuristic view of society, though it is now well past the year 1984. This book is a sort of horror in the sense that every person is watched 24 hours a day by a system set up by the government. 1984 follows the life of one man, and his strugle to get out of the "system". It was in this book that the term "big brother" originated. While it was entertaining to read, it was also dark, and seemingly hopeless. If you hate unhappy endings, don't read it. Overall, however, I definitely recommend it. I loved it!
