The Grapes Of Wrath John Steinbeck
Discuss This Book--This is one of the more realistic accounnts of what life might have been like for a poor family during the depression. Steinbeck does not try to glorify the hardships of the poor by rewarding them with a fabulous life at the end of the novel, what he does instead is show you the inner nature of the people. Personally I liked this book because it gave me a break from the typical novel that ends "happy". When this one ends, the reader knows where the people's lives will probably go, but the reader has a sense of love for the people, and what they endure on a daily basis.
