Madame Bovary Gustave Flaubert
Discuss This Book

--I can't say that this book was my favoriite... In the beginning, I really enjoyed Mr. Bovary. When his soon-to-be wife is introduced, she seems like a rather pleasant woman. Mr. Bovary loves her very much, and it would appear that she loves him just as much. Then the story changes to Madame Bovary's point of view, and I began to dislike the husband, because that is how the she comes to feel about him.

Near the end of the book, I felt very sorry for Mr. Bovary, because his wife was an awful woman, and he loved her anyway... he didn't even acknowledge how truly awful she really was. When he finally discovered the horrible truth about the woman he'd always loved, he died of shock.... Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this book.
