Art and PsychologyOne of the most common trends in aesthetics seeks for the origin of the aesthetic in the physiology or psychology of the human beings. However, the origin of any subjectivity lies in sociality (assuming activity and communication), and no physical or biological laws may govern artistic creativity and aesthetic perception. Any material may become aesthetically organized, providing the means for expressing the most complex ideas. This aesthetic content can be perceived by any person, no matter how scarce may be one's physiological capabilities. Still, one may consider the influence of the materials used and psychological peculiarities on the works of individual artists, or even a whole artistic school --- the aesthetic significance of their works will still be determined by social factors. No new material, and no psychological feature can enter the arts without substantial economical and social preparation, and therefore the development of the arts goes in parallel with the development of economy and the social system.
