26/3/99 I watched the moive, "Patch Adams" with friends today. It is a very touching, yet funny film. It's based on a true story of a compassionate but outrageous mdeical student who risks his career by defying the medical profession with his unwavering belief that laughter is contagious. I was so moved by the character (played by Robin Williams) and his way to make the life more joyful. He read the love peom (from 100 Love Sonnets by Pablo Neruda)to the girl he adored and these poems are truly beautiful. Here is the sonnet he read in the movie... I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz, or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off. -----Pablo Neruda

6/6/99 Today my family went to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre to watch Swan Lake (English National Ballet), the ballet performance. There are only two performance in Brisbane so I wouldn't want to miss it. Mum, sisters and I all got dressed up for this big event. I have to tell you that I am soooooooo obsessed by this fairytale since I was a little girl. It's always one of my favourite stories but this time I saw it performed with a different kind of expression -- ballet. The music (composed by Tchaikovsky) was built up beautifully and gradually as the story went on. I was so into the music and dancers' expressions. I cried...when it came to the moment when the prince Siegfried met and fell in love with Odette. They danced by the lake and the music reached to the climax. You wouldn't know how it feels surrounded by this powerful music..but I can tell you, I was so touched by it that I could not stop my tear purring out of my eyes. To me I think the fairytale is the reflection of real life. People often find themselves fall in love with those they think beautiful and special. However there is temptation out of this wild wild world. It's just like the Prince betrayed the Swan (whom he vowed to marry with) and was attracted to the evil Rothbart's daughter - Odile who disguised as Odette. This illusion made the Prince break his faithful primose to this beautiful swan. To break this evil spell, these couple must have the strong power of love. To real life, if two hold firmly with their faith and cherish each other, evil spells (imply the real life troubles) wil break and people will be free from the enslavement of the dark world. Life is like a fairytale to me and I am also waiting for my real prince to rescue me.....*smile*
