Story: |
Version 1.0: When I first played Jin Saotome on Marvel Vs. Capcom, I was using easy mode, and boy did that suck. I said to myself, this guy is hard to use! But later on I realized that because of that, not many people use him. So I decided, I will become a Jin Master and kick some heiney with him on Marvel Vs. Capcom. Many many quarters later, I was getting good. His character is so great since he can summon his huge freaking Mecha "Blodia" to help him out like Blodia Punch and Blodia Vulcan. He was absolutely unpredictable in the game and all he does is yell out his moves. One day, I thought it would be fun to cosplay him. Pretty unique, and new on the scene, relatively mobile costume and no one would dare get in my personal space with those spikes on his jacket.
Version 2.0: After SDCC98, I had really wanted to revise this costume some, change it here and there. Sew on the armor instead of tie on, and use actual leather and make all the belts functional. Well I got my chance after SDCC98 when the original Jin costume was stolen. I don't know why they wanted it, but it's gone. Poof. Stolen. So the revision was in order! And I styled it more to the Cyberbots version of Jin this time around since there is more detail added. And this time, all the armor would be sewn on instead of tied on and now I could use a dedicated jacket and pants for the costume. Now just to find a beautiful Morrigan and Chun Li to make my master plan complete, and we'll have my dream skit.
Version 2.5: In preparation for SDCC99, I had Version 2.0 Jin all set. But I felt bad, since my counterparts were slaving away, and I always wanted to make some changes to the Jin outfit. First of all, I've always wanted to do the "Full Metal Madness" version of Jin, being his original Cyberbots version of the costume. That entailed a new jacket design. The Japanese style sunset. Too bad I already painted the kanji with Version 2.0. So a new back was needed for this costume. Also, I was dissatisfied with how the plaster spikes came out. Version 1.0's spikes could dent and reform instantly, were sharp (grin), didn't chip and weren't sticky! Remembering how I made Version 1.0 spikes, I gave 2.0's spikes a spike-lift and had all 6 spikes redone. Sharper but with the strength of plaster underneath. Not someone you'd want to run into. Since now there were the positive attributes of both versions spikes, the hardness of 2.0 with the looks and feel of 1.0 spikes.
