WDWCP Roles
These descriptions should give you an idea of the duties you
would be performing as part of the Walt Disney World
College Program. You may be asked to do other tasks as well
throughout your employment with the Company.
Attractions-- As an Attractions cast member you will greet
guests, operate ride systems and assist guests on and off the rides.
You may also be responsible for custodial duties in your area,
cash handling in snack and merchandise stands, ensuring that lines
move safely and smoothly and, in some cases, giving long narrations
to large audiences.
Culinary Assistant-- As a Culinary Assistant, you will
assist in the preparation of guest meals by performing such
general cooking functions as mixing flour, folding turnovers,
peeling and dicing vegetables, grill work, and sandwich and
salad preparatio. Formal education is required for some Culinary
positions.
Custodial-- Cleaning up is a full time job at Walt
Disney World , so our Custodial staff members are extremely
important to us. It's a very challenging area where you will work
hands-on to empty trash cans, clean restrooms, sweep park areas
and answer guests' questions. Custodial hosts and hostesses may
also assist with the bussing and cleaning of indoor restaurants.
Custodial cast members answer more guest questions than any other
employees in park operations!
Full-Service Food/Beverage-- Full-service food and beverage
cast members get experience in both full- and quick-service restaurants.
Your work experience will include greeting, assigning and seating
guests, handling cash, preparing food, rolling silverware and
folding napkins, as well as keeping the lobby and podium area
neat and clean.
Hospitality-- Hospitality positions are reserved for
students majoring in the hospitality field. You will be working
at a Disney resort or campground assigned to either Guest Services,
Bell Services, or Front Desk Operations. In Guest Services you
will make dinner reservations, sell tickets, give information,
and handle guest challenges. As a Bell Services cast member, you
will greet guests, handle luggage, make deliveries and answer
arriving guests' questions. In the Front Desk Operations you will
check guests in and out, amke reservations, man the phone and
mail rooms and handle guest operations.
Housekeeping-- Housekeeping positions are also reserved
for students majoring in hospitality. As a housekeeper, you will
work making beds, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and putting out
fresh towels. This position is very phyiscal and requires intensive
cleaning, lifting, bending and pulling. As part of your job, you
will also have informal meetings with hotel management to learn
about other hotel operations.
Lifeguard-- As a Lifeguard cast member, some of your
responibilities will be monitoring the safety of our guests as
they swim, answering questions, keeping the pool areas clean and
working the pools, marinas, or water parks. Lifeguard certification
is required. There is a possibility that students may work in other
locations due to inclement weather.
Merchandise-- There are hundreds of shops throughout Walt
Disney World , and as a Merchandise cast member you might work
in any of the parks, resorts, or at the Disney Village Marketplace.
You will stock shelves, answer questions about merchandise, work
in the stockroom, ring up merchandise and keep your work areas
neat and clean. Merchandise cast members may also work wheelchair
and stroller rental facilities.
Park Greeters-- Our Park Greeters work at the entrances of
the three theme parks and two water parks. As a Park Greeter, some
of your job responsibilities will include validating the guests'
tickets, greeting the guests and giving out guide maps and
general park information. In our water parks, Park Greeters may
also direct traffic in the parking lots.
Quick-Service Food & Beverage-- At more than 240 restaurants,
fast food counters and snack bars, Disney serves a lot of hungry
guests. In quick-service food and beverage you will be on your
toes, rotating in different work stations. At food counters you
will be filling orders, cashiering, cleaning and stocking. In the
kitchen you will prepare food, assemble food items, clean and
stock. In the dining areas you will bus tables, stock condiment
and topping bars and empty trash. At outdoor stands, you will
be handling cash, sometimes without a cash register, filling
orders, preparing food, stocking and keeping work areas sparkling
clean. You will also have an opportunity to shadow your
supervisor to get the "inside scoop" on management's perspective.
Recreation-- As a Recreation cast member, some of your
responibilities will incluse ticket sales, towel rentals, keeping
marina and water parks areas clean and answering guest questions.
Reservation Sales Agent-- Reservation Sales Agents are
responsible for answering approximately 80 calls per day from
individuals, convention participants, and travel agents. Job
duties include booking resort stays, providing information and
making dining reservations through a property-wide computer
system.
Transportation-- As a Transportation cast member, you will
be working outside, assisting guests on and off ferry boats, trams
and monorails. You will help keep transportation lines moving
smoothly and present information about Disney resorts and
attractions to waiting passengers. All Transportation cast members
must have a valid driver license.
