Bavarian Pot Roast
3-4 lb beef arm roast
1 tsp vegetable oil
1-1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
1/8 tsp pepper, or to taste
1/2 tsp ground ginger
3 whole cloves
4 medium apples
1 small onion, sliced
1/2 cup apple juice
3-4 tbsp flour
3-4 tbsp water
Wipe roast and trim excess fat
Rub top of meat with oil
Sprinkle salt, pepper and ginger over surface of meat
Poke cloves into meat
Core and quarter apples, but do not peel
Place apples and onion in the bottom of a crock pot and put meat on top
Pour apple juice over and cook on low for 8-10 hours
When done, remove meat and apples and make gravy
Serves 6-8
Note:
I'm not terribly good at following directions, so I used freshly grated ginger, about 8 cloves, some extra apple juice and 8 oz fresh mushrooms
