Holiday Coffee Cake
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup sour cream
1 teas vanilla
2 1/2 cup cake flour
1 teas baking powder
1/2 teas baking soda
powdered sugar
red & green candied cherries
Topping
1/2 cup finely chopped mixed nuts
2 tab sugar
1/2 teas cinnamon
1/4 minced candied fruit
Blend topping ingredients
Cream butter, shortening & sugar
Add eggs, sour cream & vanilla; beat well
Sift dry ingredients and add to butter mix
Stir well; it will be thick
Spread 1/2 the batter into 9" tube pan and sprinkle with 1/2 the topping mix
Spread rest of dough on top followed by the topping
Bake 350° for 1 hour until toothpick comes out clean
Cool 15 minutes in pan before turning out
Sift powdered sugar on top while still warm
Cut & arrange cherries on top to look like holly & berries (whole red cherry with green leaves) Serves 10-12
