I did not put cooking times because we know that with the crockpot you can use frozen or thawed meat and Low or High to fit your time schedule. This is the closest that I have came to the recipe of gooey black chicken wings from the chinese restaurants. I don't have any wings so I'm going to try this on pork chops ($.97 a lb) in the crockpot and chicken thighs ($.49 a lb). Two weeks ago I used Country style pork ribs and it was MMM good...
Saute: one onion in a fry pan with a little olive oil.
Sprinkle Ribs with Garlic Powder, Five Spice and MSG.
In a sauce pan put 2 cups white sugar, 1/2 cup soy sauce, 4 tablespoons of rice vinegar, 2 tsp garlic powder. Stir until sugar is dissolved
Divide the sauce in half
Layer ribs, onion, sauce, ribs, onion, sauce in the crockpot
Cook until 3/4 done - - not pink but not falling off the bone then drain all the fat and liquid out of the crockpot and
Add the remainder of the sauce and cook until the ribs fall off the bone.
