Holiday Coffee Cake
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1-1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs beaten
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla
2-1/2 cups cake flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
powdered sugar
red & green candied cherries
Topping
1/2 cup finely chopped mixed nuts
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup minced candied fruit
Blend topping ingredients
Cream butter, shortening and sugar
Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla; beat well
Sift dry ingredients and add to butter mix; stir well. It will be thick
Spread 1/2 of the batter into a 9" tube pan and sprinkle with 1/2 of the topping mix
Spread rest of dough on top followed by the topping
Bake at 350° for 1 hour until toothpick comes out clean
Cool 15 minutes in pan before turning out
Sift powdered sugar on top while still warm
Cut and arrange cherries ontop to look like holly & berries (whole red cherry with the green leaves)
Serves 10-12
