Cherry Chocolate Chippers
1-1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup butter flavored Crisco
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp almond extract
1 egg
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup well drained maraschino cherries, coarsely chopped
Preheat oven to 375°
Place brown sugar, shortening, vanilla and almond extract in a large bowl
Beat at medium speed until well blended
Add egg; beat well
Combine flour, salt & baking soda
Add to shortening mixture
Beat at low speed just until blended
Stir in chocolate chips & cherries
Drop by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet
Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes
Cool for 2 minutes on baking sheet, then remove to foil to cool completely
