Malted Milk Chocolate Cookiesfence

I made these cookies last year; the whole family loved them. The hubby said they were pretty close to the Whopper's candy
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, room temp
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup plain malted milk powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1-3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 6 oz milk chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • Preheat oven to 350°
  • Cream butter and sugar till light and fluffy
  • Beat in egg yolk and vanilla, then beat in malted milk powder and salt
  • Stir flour into butter mixture to make stiff dough
  • Pinch off pieces of dough and make into 1 inch balls
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheet
  • Bake in center of oven for 12-15 minutes, until cookies are set and golden on the bottom
  • Remove to wire rack to cool
  • When cookies are cool, place chopped chocolate in microwave-proof bowl, or in top of double boiler
  • Melt in microwave on 80% power, stirring until melted and smooth
  • Dip the top of each cookie in melted chocolate, completely coating the top of cookie. Or, spread over each cookie with the back of a teaspoon
  • Place on wire racks until chocolate is set
Tips
- Store in single layers on plates, wrapped. Keep cookies cool - Freeze, before dipping - Mail--yes for plain cookies, no for dipped cookies
