Christmas Fruit Cake
1 cup cold water
2 cups seedless raisins
2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup nut meats
Mix all ingredients except flour, soda and nut meats. Bring to a boil. Let mixture cool.
Sift and add flour and baking soda. Add nut meats.
Pour into greased and floured tube cake pan.
Bake 55 minutes at 350º
Frost as, if desired.
