Powerpuff 2000 My very FIRST rave.. thanks Rick!!!
Some rave at the Fox Theater Two weeks after my first rave... pretty nice way to ease in to the scene.
Monster Massive -October 28, 2000- One of THE best Halloween parties I've been to. Talk about costumes!! Not to mention that is when I fell in love with my party song, One More Time by Daft Punk. STOP OVER PLAYING IT ON THE RADIO!! Rommy, Justin, Jude and Joey... first time Rick and I partied with y'all, definitely not the last time.
NRG Fucking freezing out in BFE... I still dont remember where it was at, I think somewhere near Palm Springs. First time I heard Sandstorm and it nearly knocked me off my feet... I learned my favorite trick and how to properly use photons. Not to mention finally be able to meet people and not be shy... VALUABLE LESSONS! First time I partied with Miss Lucas... you work girl.
FAMILY Friends and Music I Love You... one of the dopest truly underground house raves you can go to... not to mention some great eye kandi.
Underground Boogie This was a tiny little rave down near the 405 freeway and Santa Monica Blvd. Justin, Matt and I traveled down to this place and jammed to one of our now favorite live bands, TwentyTwelve. Unfortunately the party got shut down at 1 but I got a free cd from TwentyTwelve and we met a really cute boy named Justin... too bad hes now in the NAVY!!!
Some Club Matt knew of this club that met once a month so Justin (boy we met at Underground Boogie, guess i'll call him Lil J), Matt and I went and got totally wasted off the 2 dollar drinks. It was a small crowd of like 60 people and the house music was FUN. It felt kinda nice finally being able to drink without worrying about IDs.
Animania -December 15, 2000- Now... many people hate MASSIVES. I personally love both small parties and huge parties... Animania is no exception. There was not line to wait in and the massive tents had lots of room to party in. I partied with Rommel, Rick, Justin, Joey, Lucas, one of Joey's friends, Sheila and Joshie babe... man that was a WILD time. I also met Ash aka Ashley aka Silver and the rest of his friends that night as well... The music was tight and the vibe so good that when the city shut it down at 4:30... no one CARED!!! Now thats a good party! Who could forget watching Sheila and Rommel get lost right in front of us and not come back with the car till an hour later??? Hehehe Rick wasn't too pleased but me and Joshie had a kick ass time on that bus bench.
Candyland -December 23, 2000 Once again at one of my favorite venues, Fox Theater, this winter wonderland rave has special memories. It was the first time my old buddy Ron rolled and raved and the first time I ever danced on stage. Not to mention i met this incredibly sweet and happening party girl, Renee!!! She partied with me and we had a grip load of fun. Since then i've been a dancing fool who loves to get people's attention. Hush all you.. i know yer whispering about that one!
Together As One -January 1, 2001 *NEW YEARS EVE/DAY*- Okay... I know that there have been raves ive mentioned that was kick ass and stuff. However, everything pales in comparison to TOGETHER AS ONE. OMG, I have never been so proud to be apart of something so huge. They opened up both the Los Angeles Sports Arena and Collisium and im telling you, dancing underneath the stars with the Olympic Torch burning and a huge golden Buddha watching over the thousands of people who filled the Collisium... theres nothing like that EVER.When the clock struck midnight signaling the new year... the feeling of friendship and happiness was just amazing! I met some great people, listened to all my favorite djs... and of course, danced my ass off. What I wouldnt give to go back to that Rave again... People in attendance: Joey, Justin, Lucas, Tammy, Celeste, Rommel, (Rick and Jude later), Ryan, and Josh. I did meet Pj and Colin and another dude there, way kewl guys who go to my school. Who knew Chapman had such party freaks!!! *sigh*
The Sixth Day -Januar 6, 2001- Of course after Together As One, Rick, Matt and I were still in the partying mood so we went to the Masterdome, a venue out in BFE aka San Bernadino. It was a comfy lil venue.. a lil far from civilization but we had lots of fun and the music was just jumping.
Sporty's Private Shingding -January 26, 2001- This was a free party thanks to Scottie, Matt's bud who spins some tight house music. It was thrown in L.A. at a private residence... doesnt sound like a lot of fun huh? Well if you saw the house that we partied in... it looks like something from that B-rated movie the Dolls or something like that... scary dolls all over the place, toys and what not *shivers* It still was an awesome place.. I can imagine some dope ass parties being thrown there this summer.
FAMILY -January 27, 2001- Again... good vibes, gay boys, great friends (Raul, Lucas, Rommel, Matt, Alber and Justin), hot house music... what more can u ask for? I ALWAYS look forward to FAMILY parties. They are the best when it comes to underground parties. Unfortunately I was rolling pretty good but was too mellow to really dance so everywhere I walked around I saw my friends making out with someone. heheeh talk about whores!! JKN! Till the next FAMILY event... if you want to go, drop me an email at sexyboybry@aol.com. You wont find any info lines on this party without contacting someone whose been before.
$5 Party -February 10, 2001- Okay... so the info lied... it said it was 5 bucks all night long but that wasnt the truth. It was at the masterdome and the price went up like every half hour or something. Matt and I paid 20 bucks each to get in... what a rip huh? Still I had fun dancing cause the djs still rocked the house. Dont think ive ever heard a bad dj...
How Sweet It Is -March 17, 2001- After finally getting the gang together (Rick, Rommel, Albert and Raul) we finally go to head out to How Sweet It Is. How Sweet It Is truly was sweet, very very sweet. Not only was the venue incredibly tight and the people just as friendly as can be, I rolled the hardest I ever did in my life, danced to Christopher Lawrence (the BEST TRANCE DJ) and to some of my favorite House DJs, met some awesome guys, had my first rave kiss (thanks Jordan!) and just completely felt totally at ease. As always, I lose my friends within minutes of being at the rave... I dont know why but people tend to disappear!!! STOP IT ALREADY! LoL... I did meet some new people tho, Jordan and Michelle from San Diego, Mabel from San Diego, and John and Chris from somewhere near Palm Springs... incredibly fun party people. So there really isn't anything bad about being ditched... I think =o) The only bad thing was that we had to wait 4 hours to get off the freeway and into the parking lot... we sat in traffic by the "Next Exit" sign and slowly made our way in... besides that, everything else was prefect... Major props to the crew who put it on... i'll be back for next year's HSII!!!
March Madness -March 30, 2001- Now this was thrown at one of your very fav locations *note sarcasmn*, the Masterdome in San Bernadino. Actually the dome isnt all that bad... just too far from civilization and running water =o) The crew, New Dance Creations, put this one on and I swear, they threw one sweet party. Doran and Thee-O... not to mention other performers who just made me move all night long. Dj Krembo kicked ass on the turntables and I met some more amazing folks, they are just in abundance out there in the scene! Major props to Mike, Christie and Brian out in the Palm Springs area... it was a pleasure to party with you, Drew from Irvine, and of course my best bud Rick and his roommate Julia. I met countless more people that night and im sorry I don't remember the names too clearly!! I'll make it up to you when I see you again!
Destiny -April 6, 2001- Basically it was just an excuse to get out of the house. Rick and I again headed to the wonderful venue we know as the MasterDome for this party. Not a bad party... I had lots of fun dancing my ass off and making a fool of myself, as always =o)
HeadStrong -April 7, 2001- Im not much for hardcore but when friends ask you to hang out with them, it doesnt really matter =o) I met Mikey and his friends at the dome for this party and it actually turned out to be on of my more memorable experiences. I was getting into the music spun that night... not to mention figuring out how to dance to Hardcore without hurting myself. I enjoyed hanging out with Mikey and his friends, they always make my night. Thanks Mikey for the fun times.
Audiotistic -April 14, 2001- Now i seriously LOVE massives. Not too many people enjoy them because its always so crowded and filled with people who don't normally go to raves but I really enjoy partying with such a diverse crowd. Its one of those times when you just dance and turn and dance with someone new and turn and dance with someone new and turn... you get the idea =o) Thrown at the Long Beach Convention Center, the party really packed house as the entire center was filled with moving bodies. Even tho the party ended at 4... tons o fun was had by all and again, in keeping with tradition, i met more amazing folks who challeneged my dancing and helped me improve it =o) Jordan and Matt from San Diego, Elaine from Seattle with her bf Donny, ran into my old friend Ash and his girl Kaitlin, Chapman party buds PJ and Colby, Jude and countless others who i've forgotten monetarily due to lack of sleep =o) The music was incredible and it was just one of those 'must feel good' parties. Pictures will be up soon... i think.
California Love -April 20, 2001- So on this very special day, a raver's holiday, 4/20... I got bored at home and since everybody else was busy I headed up to the Masterdome for California Love. Again, going alone to raves has some advantage.. I was free to walk around and not have to worry about losing people or what time they wanted to leave. At first it was a little lonely but as I started to dance things quickly changed. The music just rocked... lots of old school house and trance songs that kept us all jamming till the party closed at 5... what a fun relaxing night! My only regrett is that I didn't run into Renee... the dome isn't that huge!! I can't believe I missed her.. I'll catch you at Hip Hip Hoorave!!
HappE Saturday -April 21, 2001- Okay, ya.. ive been going to parties back to back. Maybe its a little too much but oh well!! I wanted to go to this party for a variety of reasons: a. It was my friend Mike's birthday and he was holding at the dome. b. My friends Rommel and Albert gave up FAMILY to go to the dome c. Mike, another friend of mine, was going and I really wanted to hang out with him... sooo you tell me if I should have stayed home that night? Mike is a really sweet dude... again as always I had an awesome time partying with him. I met his friend Infinity and she was just kick ass. So laid back and fun to talk to... we had a blast both at the party and chilling in my apartment. The music that night was off the hook... Johnny Matrix had a kick ass set spinning solo and with another DJ whose name I can't remember, Mike discovered NRG and as always NRG just rocks everybody's world, and both Mike and I discovered the sizzling sounds of Speaker Junkies. They were a live duo who MADE (note MADE not SPUN) their music on key boards and beat boards... how sweet is that? One unforgettable night... losing sleep was definitely worth it.
Hip Hip Hoorave -May 5, 2001- Ive been told that the NY scene resembles the venue and vibe that Hip Hip Hoorave had... if it does, I wanna move to NY! Held at the LA Entertainment Center, 5000+ party people jammed to the hottest Hard House, Progressive, NRG, Drum and Bass, Jungle, Hardcore and Happy that you can find under one roof. Richard Humpty Vision and Ganesh were my favorites for the night altho Ganesh spun first while I was still waiting in LINE! -grumbles- Its okay... im over it, i'll catch later on this week haha... Mikey did get to hear him and meet Ganesh, which im jealous of but at least one of us got to listen to his set. Richard just kicked incredible ass... I really cannot wait till he releases his new cd in June. Just hearing him makes me wanna dance my ass off... so you can imagine how I felt when he spun live! AGain... partying with me was Mikey and Nick and two of their friends, I ran into Ash and Kaitlin and their friends again, Colby from school, met this really sweet girl Ashley and her friends, saw my friend Drew bouncing around the place, a couple of Dome kids and yer usual assortment of crackheads and partykids. The venue itself was nothing sort of beautiful. The main room opened up into this huge dance floor with the second floor consisting of a smoking patio looking over the LA skyscrapers, assorted rooms and a balcony spanning the sides of the main room so you can watch all the action down below. I seriously hope to party again in this venue... it was incredibly comfortable and easy to find people in. Can't wait till next year's Hip Hip Hoorave... great job ROAM!
Weeble World -May 19, 2001- Soooo another fun filled night at the MasterDome (I should just move to San Bernadino and save myself a drive!), the 6th annual return of WeebleWorld just completely rocked house. Despite the half n hour wait to get in... (half an hour for the dome???) the music just made us forget about waiting and think about dancing our asses off. Seriously, Thomas Michael just had everybody jumping for his set. Such good vibes and GREAT people. Rick and I went off together in search for fun party people and got more than we bargained for LoL Nina and her friend Bridgette, Matt, Alec, Jackie, Meg and her sister, Brock, Adreana, the list goes on and on... even ran into a cute couple who just got engaged. The joys of raving! Till the next party... remember next year is when the psychodelic circus makes its return to Southern CA!
Galaxian -May 26, 2001- Now... ive only begun to take notice of the crews that host parties but I must say, 26C has so far done an AWESOME job with their parties. California Love was a great party and now they again amaze me with the vibes from Galaxian. Held at Cadillac Bowl in Moreno Valley, Galaxian was one of those nights that I can't stop thinking about. What more can you want with 4 different rooms of music, tons of friendly people and of course *drum roll* a MOON BOUNCE! Seriously... gotta love that moon bounce hahaha... Dj Krembo was who I was looking forward to dancing to but DRC rocked the house with her sweet trance melodies and the djs in the house room just kept me grooving... house baby... yummy! Thanks to all the people who made my night incredible: Brian and Cherie and their friends, Jamie, Ryan and Cameron and their friends, Marcus and David, Sean and Josh, and all the other people whose names got jumbled up in this thing I call my mind. I hope to see you all again soon... check out the pics!
All Tranced Out -June 8, 2001- Alrighty... so New Dance Creations has never disappointed me with a party. all Tranced Out II sure didn't.. but since Cotton Cande was thrown the same night... it was basically dead =o/ Very very sad since the line up was just incredible and the music kicked ass. However I did make the best of it and it all worked out in the end. Listened once again to the awe-inspiring Dj Krembo as he kicked ass on the turntables... haha you should hear him if you haven't already. Thee-o again provided sweet melodies to jam too and as always I made some good friends. Danny who is apart of Raversonly.com and Scooby were two incredibly fun guys to hang with that night... especially after they ended the party at 3:30. I had alot of fun ending the cracked out night with Danny in his hotel room ripping on the morning tv shows. Definitely need to do that again!
F.A.M.I.L.Y -June 9, 2001- Here we go, another fun FAMILY party! Unfortunately for us the cops knew about it too and just as we got there.. we got ushered out bout two hours later. Kinda bummed but again, I still had time to make the most of it. I loved the house music that was going off in the two seperate rooms... however the climb to the second room freaked me out. They should know we aren't packing mountain climbing gear to parties... im sure glad that there were people around to catch us as we climbed those stairs! Erik, Nate, and Rommel accompained me that night and we also ran into our friends at the party... it was a big surprise to see Justin, Albert, Josh and Shaun there since they said they werent coming *shrugs* Gonzo, Liem and Ryan also brought a smile to my face... I had fun partying with them at Galaxian was definitely thrilled to see em again. I wish we all had more time to party... thankfully FAMILY doesn't disappoint and they have already put in plans for a make up party... and people wonder why I love FAMILY!
GlowStix -June 23, 2001- I was heading to this party to meet three of my friends and hang out but somehow I missed seeing two of em and the third didn't make it so I was starting to be bummed... but the music just took full control and dancing brought out the good vibes. Thee-O once again highlighted the evening... altho his set was all over the genres and made it kinda difficult to keep up a good rhythm... I made some more good friends this night who I hope to see at EDC which is less than a week away!!! Kat, a sweet girl who chilled outside with me, Ryan, a hottie who danced really smooth and kept me trying to keep up, Kevin, another cutie who kissed just as damn well as he danced, and also ran into an old friend Dusty... not a bad night at all... one of the better parties ive ever been too that was at the dome. See... good things can happen at the Dome!
Electronic Daisy Carnival-June 30, 2001- Many people dislike day parties... I dont really understand why. EDC was one of the best parties I have ever been to... right up there with Together as One. Being in the sun was a unique twist too, despite the blistering heat it was like being on a picnic with good friends, a few carnival rides and great music.
Now most people know I party alone most of the time, my party buds have been dwindling over the past few years. This time I drove up to EDC with my friend Rommel with the intention of meeting everybody else at the party. We arrived at the Hansen Dam around 11 oclock and stood in line for two hours while waiting to be ushered in... now that I must tell you was what killed my energy for the most part. They weren't seeling any water outside and by the time I got inside I was slightly dehydrated and overheated. That took alot outa me and most of my cash went to buying water all day long. Despite the need for water and constant rests, the rest of the day was a complete success.
To start the day off, Rommel and I partied by the Moonshine stage where house was the flavor of the week. East Coast Boogie Men, Simply Jeff and Christian Smith rocked the stage as the crowd gathered in numbers to pay tribute to the smooth melodies of house. From there I went off in search of the Trance stage to find John Kelly finishing up his set and Mars getting ready to take his turn. I was expecting something hypnotic and moving the way trance always is... however Mars just completely surprised me with his upbeat and energized trance set. Honestly, it was a really moving sight to see the growing crowd just jump to every new song, new beat, new wave of energy that Mars just let go. I really felt bad when Sandra Collins had to follow, as much as I love her music she really does have a unique blend and it wasn't as uplifting as Mars. She did look a little uncomfortable on stage... which i think was due to having to follow Mars... who knows. She still put on one excellent performance and I really need to grab her new cd. Christopher Lawrence came on next and lived up to his repuation as one of the Gods of Trance... just one great dj after another. AFter his set, my friends left early so I took off back to the moonshine stage to watch the incredible Don Glaude work. And work he did... the crowd was full of life and elbow to elbow listening and dancing to his funky beats. It really was nonstop fun all day... even after the party ended, five after hours parties awaited those who werent completely exhausted. I for one was killed and so was Rommy, I mean... 13 hours of dancing... only so much you can do right?
Soooo... in true tradition, let me thank all those that I saw and partied with again... my best friends Rommy and Rick, Sam and Jacob, Liem, Gonzo and their friends, Shaun and Josh and Salina, Ryan, Cameron, Ryan, Melissa and Melissa (funky huh?), Jarod and his friends, Pj, Colby, Mariana, Kat and her friend, Ash and Kaitlin, Kit, jeeze... i hope i didnt leave anyone out. I never expected to see them all at one party... just made my day to see them all. Thanks for the memories!! As you can tell... EDC really was a party to remember... I can't wait till next year... hopefully I'll have some friends who arent terrified of the carnival rides *you know who you are!*
Freedom Force 2001 -July 3,2001-Alrighty.. so last saturday I partied during the day for the first time in my life, tonight I partied for the first time on a weekend. Lots of firsts lately huh?
Freedom Force 2001, really a rave that was 10 bucks to get in... okay 12 counting the 2 bucks I had to dish out for Higher Source to sell me the ticket but thats a hella good price to pay for the Dome.. dont think ive bad any less than that. The first thing noticeable was the heat... if you thought the Fox was hot... tonight would have changed your mind. Thanks to the gathering thunderstorm, the humidity and temperature shot up making the indoors spots extremely warm. It was like walking right out of the shower again... this time guzzling a bottle of water cause you are so thirsty. Eventually it cooled down as the night progressed but that will forever remain in my mind. The first room u come to is the small lil room near the girl's restroom. They had placed the jungle and hardcore in that room.. i didnt frequent it too much considering that my toes are already hurting from EDC and having them get stepped on by jumping boys and girls would definitely not be a good thing. So instead i danced most of the night outside where they played mostly awesome house tracks and inside where trance/progressive/nu-nrg ruled. I enjoyed moving back and forth between the two to keep variety going, Ganesh and Darky just were rocking the place with their upbeat melodies... I swear I love LA djs =o)
Again time for more shout outs... Rick for coming out with me to the dome, Josh and his friend, Justin and his friends, Ziggy and Eric, Erik and his friends, Marcus and David and company (always a pleasure!), Drew, Jeff and Justin, Nicky and Autumn.. and I know there were more I was hanging out with. Another incredible night filled with great personalities to get to know... who said this was bad?
Freedom-July 7, 2001- As if going to EDC and then to Freedom Force wasn't enuff for me... off I ventured to the masterdome again for another night o fun and entertainement! Not a pretty bad night... Ryan and his friend Ian came to chill with me at the dome... where we met up with Gonzo and Liem and their pals... it was mostly about just hanging out with your good friends and enjoying one of the nice nights of the summer. Sometimes you don't need to dance non-stop to have a great time!
Smurfs-July 14, 2001 How could you pass up something as cute as the smurfs? I basically grew up watching the smurfs! Not only that but one of my favorite djs, DJ Krembo, was spinning and I try not to miss any of his performances. One of the most interesting highlights of the night was when we found out that the roof to the dome collapsed and all the areas were outside.. it was odd and packed, but honestly, it was great just chilling outside and dancing underneath the stars. Rommy joined me on this great evening where we just danced and met new people, who knew it would be one of my last nights at the dome.
Summer Dreams -July 21, 2001- After years of taking care of millions and millions of ravers, years of great memories, years of music... the Masterdome finally had its last party which drew thousands of dedicated ravers. Julia accompained me to this historic event where we met up with my friends Nate, Albert, Andrew, Monica, Rennee and a bunch of others. I met Theresa and her friends, two sweet girls who party and go to Chapman... always awesome to meet people from Chapman. The music was incredible, Dj Struck never disappoints, i wish he spin just as long as Darky did.. i couldnt get into his trance set at all. Even tho it was packed tighter than a sardine can... i still had a blast and enjoyed the last night at the Dome... I wish it didn't go... but all good things come to an end sometimes. Many people dislike the dome.. over used... bad memories.. but u know what... there have always been plenty of good memories to overdue the bad ones.
