Raves 2001- Fall to Winter

Area One -August 5, 2001- Alrighty, this is what happens when u have a successfully organized music festival. Parking was great, the venue was beautiful and relaxing, the talent was UNBELIEVEABLE... i could do with lower prices but money was no option.. (hahaha lets tell that to my checkbook). Thanks to Ryan for hooking me up with a ticket and introducing me to another kewl guy, Rico... along with his friends Chad and Tim we had one of the best times at Area One. The Glenn Helen Blockbuster Pavillion was a perfect place to enjoy a sunday and dance the day away. From Jason Blakemore (smooth house music), Timo Maas (the BEST entertainer ive ever had the pleasure to dance too... no kidding), Orb, Paul Oakenfold, Moby, New Order, and the list goes on and on.... just fun all around. We met two other really sweet people, Justin and Sure, who (surprisingly) live in the LA area (not many people do now a days!!)... thanks guys for making it one of the best parties!! Looking forward to Nocturnal... and to Maas' return to Southern California.

F.A.M.I.L.Y. -August 11, 2001- Well.. it was this party or the Snorks... and FAMILY has always been a source of fun and great music so I decided to take my friend Danielle to her first rave. Why not? Great House music, cute boys... friendly people and comfortable venue... what more can you ask for. Rommy accompained us and we found Rico, Ryan, Rick (damn R's), Nate, Albert, Cameron, and everybody else who I cant remember at this point... theres alot trust me!! What made it even weirder... the party was in Torrance at an old park that Danielle and I have been to with my cousins before for a basket ball game. Trippy huh? It really was a great party... till the cops broke it up at 3:30.. that makes two FAMILY parties in a row... makes u wonder about the scene out here.

Nocturnal Wonderland -September 2, 2001- Here we go... one of the most anticipated events of the summer, the incredible Nocturnal Wonderland. Everybody has been talking about how magical and fun its been so I was eagerly awaiting the day when it would become a reality to me. To make this an even more 'magical' adventure, the party was held at the indian reservation over by Lake Havasu... about 4 hours from LA. Magical indeed to see how we survived the trip.

It all started out with me in Lake Forest waking up at 8, saturday morning, to get ready. By 10 I was at Rom's place where we switched to his siter's car so we stood a chance of making the drive without breaking down. By 11 o'clock we were at USC collecting fellow parties Ryan, Rico, Cameron, James and Mike. From there we drove to Ontario Mills to find our last companion, Tim and at 1pm we finally set off for Havasu. The sun blazed, the wind blew and the dismal scenario did nothing to our spirits (we had great music and a kick ass air conditioner, sorry Rico!) and after two stops at various gas stations and eatry, we arrived at our location at 6pm. Cops were all over the place (as im sure you all remember from the news reports.. yay Media!)and the parking was a lil tough thanks to some soft sand but eventually we ended up in what appeared to be a short line. Turns out that it was one of the longest lines I have ever stood in for a party... four hours later we finally got patted and permitted inside. Now... ive been to many parties with many different layouts and a bizzillion and one stages but NEVER have I walked so much... all nine stages were lined up in a row much like at the food court at the mall and the stage I wanted was on the fucking far end. So after another half an hour walk thru the e-tards and dancing folk and incredibly hot boys.. I ended up where I wanted and was able to enjoy the rest of the night. From Aj and his friends to Colby and PJ, Marcus and David, various other people ive met at Raves... I truly had a great time even tho the traffic outside the party was intense causing many of the DJs to show up late. I did get to see Dj Tietso spin, listened to Don Glaude from afar, got Sandra Collins to sign my ticket, and finally figured out who Rabbit in the Moon was. Unfortunately, Rom, James and Cameron managed to get themselves lost and I didnt see them the entire night... Ryan and Rico and Tim and various assorted boys who accompanied them made up for them... and the events of those meetings shall remain confidential! For integrity sake, you understand. Finally at 8am sunday morning the party ended and this weary group of parties made the long hike back to the car. We chilled till 10 while traffic died down and left for the final 4 hours back home... making our first stop at USC around 6pm, dropping off Cameron and Ryan, then dropping Tim off... finally making our way to Rom's home where I collected my gear and made my way back here to Lake Forest by 10pm... a Total of 39 hours awake. Seriously, you have to realize the dedication it takes to stay up that many hours dancing and driving... gotta love the music, gotta love the people. Later on of course comes the reports of 4 people dead, one overdose, two seperate car accidents and one boy who got lost in the desert. What can you expect tho with a crowd of over 20,000 people on Labor Day Weekend? Still Raving bad.. however you didn't hear the reports of the many alcohol related deaths all over Labor Day.. but hey im not bitter. All in all... I think Nocturnal was a complete success... even if the djs were late and the traffic sucked ass. The people and the fun times made it all worth it. Next up, Heart and Soul!

Heart and Soul -September 15, 2001- This would have been an awesome party... it should have been an awesome party... unfortunately, the events of 9-11 took alot of steam out of it, forcing many people to stay home and keeping djs from flying in. Many would think that the party would have been bust... but not when you have dedicated DJs and partiers. Despite the recent attacks... we once again gathered at the Orange Show here in San Bernadino to dance and enjoy another spectacular night. Lots of NRG, lots of smooth house... Thanks to everyone who came out... Ryan, Time, Justin, Sue, Cass, Hemmy, Rommy, Andrew, Josh... it was a great way to remember the good things in life despite all thats happened.

Bigger Thank You Party -October 5, 2001- Teknoclub was famous for the success of Bigger and Cotton Cande and to thank everyone who came out, they thru a killer party at Orion in Downtown LA. It was a really sweet venue, big dance floor, three balconies over looking the main room and two seperate out door areas to chill. Not a really big place but sometimes that helps in forcing people to talk to each other! The music was really awesome.. lots of NRG... and you all know I love NRG. Just unbelievable tunes floating in the air and coursing through your body... Rico, thanks for keeping up with me.. even if i looked like i was ignoring you!!! Sorry!!! LoL Rico, Ryan, Tim, CJ,Rommel and a bunch o other folks came along to this party where I ran into my old friend Mike from High school and his group o friends. Dont ya just love how things just come togehter like that?

M.I.P. -October 20, 2001- Originally I was supposed to go to the 26C thank you party cause it was cheap-o entrance fee... 10 bucks, cant beat that. However Romy was taping the Caddy Club to make a commercial and asked me to come along so I did. I didnt think the party would be too huge cause of the amount of other events going on, especially EDF's huge ass event at the Orange Show... boy was I wrong. So many people turned out and the music was jsut killer causing Rico, Max and I to stop and try to catch our breathes many many times. Rico came out with Shaun, ran into Gonzo and Liem and their groupies... and met Max and his friend Jason... it was Max's first party and believe me, if you saw him dancing, youd never know. One of the greatest times of my life just hanging out to some really great old school trance and house. Isn't it great when things work out like that?

Monster Massive -October 27, 2001- So last year's Monster Massive was just incredible with the vibe and sheer amount of people partying. I was hoping for the same kick ass party this year... but unfortunately, due to some unkown circumstances *9-11... crackdown on raves... who knows* the party wasn't as good as last year. Still, I had an incredible time with my friends and finally got to hear Richard Humpty Vision spin again after so long. I did dance a little too much.. as my friends can attest to that. Seeing me crumple down and hold my side isn't exactly a pleasant experience but hey.. i got my money's worth outa the ticket! Major thanks to Rommy, Rico, Shaun, Brian, Jason, Joe, Ryan, Cameron, Liem *even tho I didnt see you!* Brett, Diana, Mikey, Chris, Teresa, Kelly, Tim, Bonnie, Mike, Xerox, Daniel, Simone, and many many others who made me laugh, dance, smile and simply enjoy a night out with friends.

911 -November 10, 2001 - Review to come soon.

And the Beat Goes On - November 24, 2001 - Review to come soon.

Together As One -December 31, 2001- Tons of fun... what better way to ring in the new year than by celebrating with sweet music and thousands of people just dancing the night away. It wasn't the best of parties considering that last year's Together As One had both the Sports Arena and the Collosium butthat didn't mean that the beats weren't superb. Of course Richard Humpty Vission was my favorite of the night... he spun right right thru midnight making the countdown jammed back with energy. Mars was getting the dance floor up and moving like he did back at Electronic Daisy Festival... that was a flashback to good times... Good vibes and good people... see y'all next year!
