Some thoughts on 'eggs'.
"Don't put all of your eggs in the same basket."
While I have no argument with that time-tested advice, it occurs to me that if you only have one egg -- you better put it in the best basket you possibly can.
You may have guessed that I am not actually talking about eggs like you might have had for breakfast. I'm talking about the important and fragile relationships in your life. Each relationship that you have with another person -- be it a romantic relationship, a dear friend, or even a family member, is a unique and valuable asset. Each of these relationships is like a single and valuable 'egg', and each of these 'eggs' deserves to be stored in the best 'basket' you can manage.
You wouldn't toss your wallet or purse around and leave it sitting just anywhere would you? You may have a photo that is important to you so you frame it and keep it where you can see it, right? Or maybe you value things like a hobby, or a car, or whatever -- you get the idea. We take good care of the things that are important to us. We spend time managing these items and seeing to their welfare.
Why not spend some time and effort on our important relationships? Take the time to tell that person that you think they are special. Go out of your way to meet them (literally AND emotionally). It does not take much to let someone know that you value him or her and the effects of these actions can last a lifetime.
...more to come...
